Spontaneous Labour Before Induction

I'm being induced on 9th November at 38+3 due to being a high risk pregnancy. I was just wondering if anyone in the same situation had gone into spontaneous labour prior to induction date? Did you just ring the PAU straight away?

I'm not seeing my midwife until next Thursday & they're not easy to get a hold of on the phone so just wanted to know what others did in this situation.

I was due to be induced due to dates with my first and went into labour the night before. I assume the midwives at the hospital I went to (which was different from the hospital I was due to be induced at) called the team at the other hospital. The midwives where I went knew my situation, and the two hospitals are in the same health board. I certainly didn't have any missed calls from the other hospital wondering where I was!

@Welshcake15 thank you for your reply, did you just go straight in when your labour started?

I was booked in for an induction on the Tuesday, went into labour Sunday night, baby born early Monday morning. I was overdue then though.

Dd2 I was being induced at 37+6 due to low water volume, had a sweep a few days before and my waters broke the next day but labour didn’t start so I was induced early. But my waters went on their own and I only needed a pessary the next day to start it all off.

I would just ring the labour ward and let them know you've started labour. They'll take your details and join the dots with cancelling the induction, you don't need to worry about that. Then they'll assess how far along you are/whether you need to come in or stay at home longer etc as normal.

Not quite the same, but I had a midwife appointment booked one morning for a sweep and gave birth 11pm the evening before - I had a text message off the midwife first thing in the morning congratulating me on the baby arriving, so things are definitely joined up in that regard.

Yes, I went straight in! I was assessed as being in active labour, so didn't need the induction. I think if they had said I was in early labour (so not quite at the point where I could have been admitted to the labour ward) I possibly would have seen if I could play things by ear and perhaps delay the induction to the next day as clearly things were happening and I would have preferred to let my body do its thing as long as there were no concerns.

Go in to maternity assessment if you suspect labour has started before induction. They will decide if you should go to the labour ward or home to progress.

Not induction for me...
I was booked for elcs (very big baby and previous cs) on a Tuesday bang on 39wk. Went in to labour early hours Monday but was in denial putting it down to braxton hicks, by 3pm I couldn't deny it was labour and went to the maternity assessment unit. They popped my on the machines and confirmed labour, internal by midwife had me 3cm not long after 4pm. Doctor had to check that herself before agreeing to get me on list for cs as I didn't want to go natural (worried about scar rupture). I was taken to labour ward later that night and baby delivered at 11:38pm, I started to get scar rupture and baby was 10lb 15oz. The midwife said "she's huge I can't wait to weigh her", they also congratulated us on the safe delivery of our toddler lol.

Thank you all for your replies, very helpful! Hoping baby decides to get a move on in the next week, I can't wait to meet them 😊 x

@JackJack84 I was due to be induced 2 weeks ago today. Went to the hospital at 10:30 am with contractions that Fay and ended up not needing induced at all.

I was due to be induced at 41 weeks with my last baby. I went into labour that morning. Typical! We just called and then went to the hospital, they checked me to confirm I was in labour and I was taken to the birthing centre.

I did say I was booked in for induction when we called so that they could cancel it
