Hello,

I have my consultant appointment thursday to finalise all the details of my c section. I have no expierence as last time was an emergency one so i know this is different. I have a bit of a history due to my previous birth so i am high risk, but this pregnancy has been far from straight forward ive got strep b, had a few hospital visits and an overnight stay and im signed off work atm feeling very crap with lots of pressure down below, i also got a call today from tge obstetrics doctor that my strep b is worse and now showing in my urine and i needsantibiotics asap so ive started them this evening.

Im obviously terrfied of my waters breaking because of the strep b and also because i had an abruption previously, there has been a few warning signs she is thinking of coming i had to stay in hospital as i was having contractions they stopped thankfully when i was given some fluids ect as i had been feeling so poorly.

So i guess my question is, is it just bog standard 39 weeks for everyone or is there wiggle room on that of like another week... the date been spoken of previously is the 20th of december, just cutting it fine to be home with my little boy for christmas and also the fact i am extremly uncomfortable and feeling poorly i no christmas isnt a reason for bringing this forward, its basically for the way im feeling just now almost bed bound at 31 weeks.

I think they'll keep baby is as long as possible but bring him out as soon as necessary.

So yes to wiggle room if they're worried about baby, which could Inc natural labour with strep b but they will hold out as long as they can

I had a planned and my water broke earlier. They told me to come straight in if that happened and I had a c-section within three hours. The section was the best experience I’ve had, so calm and relaxed. They know what they’re doing, it’s safest to stay in as long as possible.

That sounds great a calm expierence, my last one was horrendous and my son nearly never made it, but they have this all well noted on that front with the abruption i had and things, just the strep b added to the mix this time. I think im just struggling with being so immobile that its making me impatient, my last pregnancy was a breeze just the birth that was horrendous. Hopefully opposite, hard pregnancy and easy birth here's hoping

@julzx I know how you feel op I was induced at 38 weeks with my first, with my second they refused early induction saying baby wasn't big, I was really struggling and knew he was big I could hardly do anything then at my 38 week scan they said I needed to go upstairs they then told me how he had got to big and I was at risk of XYZ and needed to be induced, he was born at 39 weeks 9lb 9 and I haemorrhaged and ended up in theatre so now with baby 3 they have advised a c-section, I know they will say 39 weeks also but hope they do it a bit earlier Blush

@Hmumoftw0 poor you! They were quite negligent first time around with me i ended up with a review into my care, i felt when i was taken in last week the doctor was excellent she new my notes and history and was checking for signs of abruption, she decided against steriods and put me to labour ward to be monitored overnight, bjt when i got there they were a nightmare they asked me if i was in because of sickness and dioreha i did have that but it was more a side effect of the contractions i was having! It felt they were clueless, thats my biggest worry and it all goes wrong again and no one thinks of whats hapoened previously. Hope everything goes well this time around for you x

If it’s suboptimal for you to go into labour why not ask if 38w is possible? If you make it clear that you are just checking hopefully they will be happy to explain why not.

I had my elective c section 9 days before baby's due days so it can be at least a bit earlier than 39 weeks.

It was a very calm birth. Nothing like the drama of the birth of my first baby.
