Anyone used Daktarin 2% when pregnant?

Hi I went to the doctors this morning and have been prescribed Daktarin 2% for a skin fungal infection. When she was looking to see if it was safe to use in pregnancy she said it said to use with precaution when pregnant and that “it should be ok if used sparingly so twice a day for a week should be ok”. I didn’t feel very confident with her saying “it should be ok”. I spoke to the pharmacist when I collected the prescription. He said that the manufacture states that a small amount will enter the blood stream so not to use much when pregnant. Neither have left me wanting to use the cream. I’ve got a midwife appointment in over a weeks time so was thinking of waiting and asking her before I used it. I was wondering if anyone else has used this when pregnant or if they used a different, safer cream in pregnancy that cleared up a skin fungal infection?

I had a flare up very early on when I'd just found out I was pregnant and didn't even think to check so used Daktarin as I have it in the house due to previous rash flare ups - I seem to get them whenever my immune system is taking a bit of a beating. All is well so far!

But if you're worried you may want to research some other remedies until you've spoken to your mw. I've sometimes used a combination of Daktarin twice a day and natural yoghurt in between the cream. Fungal rashes can be incredibly uncomfortable, and mine is always on my face!

Thank you for replying. That’s another reason why I’m in no rush to use the cream as it’s not bothering me at all. It’s not sore or itchy in fact I wouldn’t even know it was there if i couldn’t see it. It’s on my breast too so not noticeable. I think I’ll try yogurt until I see the midwife next week. I always have natural yogurt in so it’s worth a try while I wait. Thank you

Oh fine. I always get it really itchy and burning sensation too, really distracting and horrible. Glad yours isn't like that!

Funnily enough I've just queried the same thing with my doctor and was advised not to use Daktarin oral gel if I could help it. They said that if I tried other things and it did not clear then I could use Daktarin sparingly, but basically as a last resort and only if the risks of using it outweighed the benefits.

Did they give you any ideas of what else you could use instead? I’ve prescribed the Daktarin cream. As the infection is small and not causing me any issues what’s so ever so far (it’s been about 2/3 weeks) I’m not in a rush to use the cream

For me the infection is at the side of my mouth, so they've suggested vaseline as a barrier. I've used it in the past for the same problem with limited success, but willing to try again. They were unable to suggest an alternative treatment cream.
