Hi... at 20 week scan was discovered have low lying and anterior placenta... now i constantly feel so stressed... cause wasnt told nothing but that i could bleed and placenta could grow into c section scar etc... and to wait until next doctor tells me everything...IN WEEKS. I will loose my mind reading other people stories and scaring myself..
Had really bad first birth and really scarred now...
Toddler is very heavy...am afraid to lift him..afraid to clean..afraid to do anything... doesnt help that i have rhesus negative too..so was afraid of bleeding to begin with...now risk of bleeding even more....
Anyone with happy stories?...

It may not cause you any issues.

Our twin 1 had a low lying placenta covering cervix at 20wk, I'm RH- too. I had no bleeds due to it and it moved by my 32+5wk scan, she then turned breech though so I had an elcs (my 1st cs). Our others were 9, 4 & 2yr old by the time I was in my 3rd trimester and I had no trouble picking up & carrying the younger 2.

@Chelyanne thank you for writing. Did they tell you if you should follow any restrictions what can and cant do?
I'm completely clueless and from other threads seems like everyone was forbidden any activities... bit impossible when youre the parent at home...

It is really hard to restrict yourself when you have a family to take care of. I think so long as you feel well and have no bleeds you can carry on with most things.

They didn't advise any restrictions at all, just told me to contact them immediately if I had any bleeds. I was in for checkups every 4 weeks anyway as that's the norm with multiples. I couldn't rest much, I had 3 kids and my husband broke his leg when I was 26+1wk (cast off day after birth at 38wk).

Hi, mine is also low lying anterior (but not completely covering) I was only told to come in or call if any bleeding. I've since looked online and seen all sorts of advice about taking it easy/no sex etc but the consultant couldn't have been more chilled about it and said in 90% of cases it moves up. Didn't say anything about taking it easy or resting etc.

I've continued workouts etc and currently 25 weeks with no bleeding or anything untowards as of yetSmile

I have low anterior placenta and also RH-.

Why would being RH- cause bleeding? I've never heard that before... or are you worried about other types of bleeding causing your blood to mix with baby's?

Somerandomgirl · 25/10/2021 13:16

@Nuglife123 its the consultant there when i had the scan that made me so scarred..they couldnt stop shushing hushing in the hallway before they took me in the room like there was some super bad news to tell me. When all they said is i will need elcs..which i already wanted... BUT made my mind go restless and think of other scenarious only cause of this hushing

@goinggently no, i didnt mean the rh- will cause bleeding just afraid not to bleed cause of the whole mixing blood thing... and if the low lying placenta can bleed...ugh lol.... Confused I'll drive myself mad with worries

I also had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks and my RH negative. Zero bleeds or issues (despite toddler knocking into / kicking my bump on a daily basis! It had moved well out the way when they checked it at 32 week scan :) ...most of them (I think 90% they said) do move. Good luck! I found the wait torture as really didn’t want a section but just try as best you can to put it out your mind until then.

Also I should add I got a private scan at 28 weeks as I was impatient ...it hadn’t moved enough at that point so don’t be disheartened if you do the same. Anterior is also more likely to move I believe ..mine is posterior.

@Chelyanne i can imagine with 3 other and being pg..omg Grin i only have a 3 year old to look after now and he's climbing everything all day long wont let me sit in peace ..and its for me the whole house etc so yea... but good to hear everything was alright!

Ah got it, sorry I misunderstood. Thought I had an extra thing to worry about there!

Are you getting your baby's blood type tested? If they are RH- too it would be one thing less to worry about.

This is my second pregnancy after losing one last year and having invasive testing but I'm trying not to worry too much about it. Don't have antibodies so the Anti-D seems to have done its job at least

goinggently · 25/10/2021 13:27

Did they tell you you needed a csection at your 20 week scan? From my v basic understanding I thought that would be too early to predict, as it can move upwards. Got mine in a few weeks so curious to know what we'll find

Somerandomgirl · 25/10/2021 13:29

@Roo0996 thank you for sharing!
Theyre sending me from this hospital to cambridge one as obviously they are incompetent on the subject here Hmm so maybe they'll do scan there again in few weeks etc.. no idea whats gonna happen. Just hope it doesnt grow into the scar tissue there Confused

@goinggently I'm so sorry for your loss ..
and yea they said high chance of cesarian cause i had one already and if placenta doesnt move... and if it grows into the scar tissue..ghhhhhhh
