Femur length 3 weeks behind- anyone had this?

So I’m having growth scans due to my first baby being SGA. I’m 35 weeks. Had one at 32 weeks, all fine and dandy all measurements safely ‘in the green’. Had a follow up today at 35 as is policy and whilst EFW is tracking the same centile (so from an overall growth point of view great outcome for which I’m grateful) the femur length was measuring 32+4, head was 35+4. It made leg length just above the 10th centile but didn’t pull overall EFW down by much. I did directly ask the midwife scanning me if that’s something to worry about and she said no, due to scans being a bit inaccurate and the most important measures being abdominal circumference and head. I asked about dwarfism and she said no, it’s v clear on the anatomy scan if that’s the case.

I’m trying not to borrow worry but seems a bit odd that babies legs haven’t really grown since my previous scan but the rest has?

Anyone else had small legs on scan that turned out to be a ok irl?

Yep, femur length four weeks behind at one point but head and belly correct for dates. She was born looking very leggy! Scans are a very rough estimate only.

Apparently the femur length is the most inaccurate/difficult to get measurement that they take which is weird as it’s just one long bone. The difference between the 10th and 25th centiles at 35 weeks is 2mm so any error makes a huge difference to the centile

Was it position you think? Legs were right under my ribs (comfy lol) wonder if that might make things look shorter? Xx

Yes! I have what is now a very petite grown adult woman!

DD had a short femur and large abdomen in scans. She was frog like when she was born but is now a perfectly proportioned 20 year old!

Hi OP, yes I had the same thing with my DD with femur measuring weeks behind at either my 28 or 32 weeks scan. I worried myself sick despite reassurance from consultant and midwife. Anyway by the next scan the femur was measuring extra long. Daughter was born 8lb 11 and with perfectly proportioned legs.
Try not to worry x

Previous baby being sga, i do get a bit worried about growth problems, hopefully it’s nothing and as a PP said femur length can be hard to get right x

Oh it was literally nothing, next scan baby was well in the green so must have been a duff measurement.

baby was 7’12 and 52cm long and has been 50th centile ever since:)
