30wks heart palpitations

A few weeks ago I noticed I was starting to have palpitations at night- enough to stop me dropping off- when I was lying on my left hand side. Dr Google reassured me this was common due to pressure put on some nerve when lying on LHS. It has been annoying and uncomfortable but bearable.
Today I’ve noticed I’m having palpitations during the day- quite frequently too. I have a cold, my DC has covid but I’ve tested negative and I’m knackered because I’m up every 3h in night to pee.
Has anyone ever experienced palpitations during the day? I’ve had them standing up, walking around and sitting down.
I’m not sure whether to seek medical advice or if it’s standard. This is my second child and I didn’t have this with my first pregnancy at all.

I had something similar at about the same timescale in my pregnancy. It was diagnosed as "ectopic heartbeats" and I was told it wasn't anything to worry about. It's caused by pregnancy hormones and is temporary.

I did get it properly checked at the time (24hr EGC monitor) but no further action was required.

Speak to your midwife or GP. Heart palpitations can also be caused by a number of other things (including low iron) so it's always best to get checked.

I'm 30 weeks and have had heart palpitations since about 5 weeks. I've had my iron levels, glucose, urine, full bloods and blood pressure checked several times, and all results came back fine. It's more pronounced after I've eaten in the evening but I can get it at other times too. My midwife seems unconcerned, so I've just put it down to one of those pregnancy symptoms. All the best with your little one. x

I have also had palpitations throughout this pregnancy, starting around 16 weeks.
I went to my GP, who referred me for a 24 hour monitor and an ECG, which eased my mind as the consultant said it was nothing to worry about, I was offered beta blockers, but decided against taking them.
My nurse friend said that palpitations can be caused by low magnesium, so I started eating a banana every day and it could be a coincidence, but they really have lessened since.

Thanks everyone for your advice! I called 111 and had an ECG done this afternoon. All looked fine but they’ve ordered 24h to be on safe side. Will deffo get cracking on the bananas in meantime! Worth a try I think. My iron levels also showed as low last week so have a supplement to start taking for that now too.
