Tens machines

I have been given a loan of a tens machine for birth from a close friend, she used it during her most recent birth.

However, the box does say not suitable for pregnant women. I’ve had a look it and compared it to the brand maternity tens machine and can’t see any difference…is it just a marketing thing or am I missing something?

I don't see what the issue would be. Maybe double check with your midwife but I should think they're all the same!

They’re not recommended in early pregnancy, but absolutely recommended as pain relief for labour. I’ve hired one from the midwifery team at my local hospital. Tried it the other night when I was having braxton hicks. It’s magic.

I've no regrets about buying mine and would warmly recommend it to anyone. I think you are not supposed to use before 37 weeks, but I may be wrong.
I know that usual tens machine have 2 "pads" and pregnancy ones have four. I understood that you were not supposed to use the non-pregnancy 2 pad ones because they wouldn't give enough relief/support etc.
As others have said check it out, but if you decide against this one, then do get one for yourself. They can be rented. I bought mine for about £50 last year in Boots - best baby thing I bought!

Thanks for the replies. I’ll definitely double check with midwife next week.

Thankfully my braxton hicks haven’t been sore enough to need pain relief!
