Bleeding 5 weeks

Hi lovelies, I am 5 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing some bleeding over the last 2 days, bright red blood I thought of as spotting however I have also passed 2 small blood clots. I am still currently bleeding small amounts. I am really anxious as my breast have not been as tender since the bleeding started. Has anybody experienced this or could advise me on what they think is happening. Thankyou x

I had the same thing at 5 weeks(now 8) Rang drs and was told to keep an eye on it and that if it got worse with clots or pain to go to a&e
Thankfully it wasn't heavy and was only when I wiped with only spotting on a pad.did last 10 days which was making me panic so much though.
I booked a private scan but wasn't that far along and could only see a sac,but the nurse was worried it could be a chemical. So was advised to check HCG levels which after Dr got results was happy with and to try another test in a week.thankfully it was still positive and I've got another scan tomorrow to see what's happening
I'd suggest take it easy and keeping an eye on it to see if it get heavy.if it dose and you experience pain go to a&e.also ring drs when you can to check HCG levels and to see if they can get you a early scan
Hope everything ok for

Kindertonguehappierlife · 17/10/2021 17:31

Could it be a chemical pregnancy? Flowers

Melspop · 17/10/2021 19:31

Thankyou so much for your response, I appreciate it so much.
I am currently on holiday, I found out I was pregnant the day before I was due to fly out! The bleeding started in the airport as spotting. It is still very light bleeding not like my period. I’m so worried as I can’t visit a doctor over here as they cannot do anything so early on! We are due to fly home on Friday. Do you think it would be worth taking another pregnancy test to see the result? Thanks so much for your help, so glad everything is ok for you 💗

I really hope not as the bleeding is very light.
Could the bleeding be a sign of a chemical pregnancy? I am so worried. Thanks for your response 💗

You could always do another just to check and then ring your Dr as soon as you get back
Dr told me if it's a chemical it usual happens in the first few weeks as most people just think there periods late and don't realise they was pregnant. With me i was a week late, Tested positive the day it should of finished but the day after was when my spotting started.was brown, then a watery pink, to watery red to red ,then back to brown.was only when I went to the loo with only spots going onto a pad
They still unsure bout me.but I do a test every 3-4 days to to make sure it's still positive and not fading. Hopefully everything will be ok at my scan tomorrow as I was due to start another period tomorrow and have got the odd brown spotting again.but apparently it's normal around 8 weeks as it could be hormonal due to my period being due

Just take things easy and keep an eye on it
Hopefully everything will be ok for you and your little bean 🤞

blondieee · 17/10/2021 22:43

No advice but I am going through the same thing except I'm 4 weeks Sad

Melspop · 17/10/2021 22:57

Bleeding for me has been consistently pinkish/light red I’m not sure if this a good or bad sign. I was hoping the bleeding was going to stop today but sadly it hasn’t.

The only thing I can do is wait for the doctors appointment when I get home on Friday.

My fingers and toes are crossed for you at your scan tomorrow! Wishing you and your little sead all the best!

Sorry to hear you’re going through similar. It’s a really anxious time. Have you been in contact with your doctor? Everything I have read online (dr google) is suggesting we cannot determine at home what the bleeding is caused by. Only a doctor will be able to do this. I really hope everything is ok for us both. Yeah I have read that bleeding can be completely normal so I’m trying to keep positive x

Thank you 😊
unfortunately none the wiser after the scan. Had to have internal scan to find the lil bean. Eventually found it and was measuring 5 week 2 days but couldn't see anything inside.so the lady still unsure if it's a chemical or I've got my dates completely wrong
I've got a app on my phone to track period and it's always on time or 1 day out.so from last period it's 8 week.but I know what day we had unprotected sex,so somewhere around that time was when I conseived which is round about 6 weeks ago.so now it's a waiting game again to wait and hear from hospital about going there for a scan in 2 week
Hope everything is ok with you 🤞

Hi ladies I’m 5+3 and started bleeding last night old brown blood but then turned to fresh red blood but not as dark as when I’m normally on my period and much lighter . My boobs aren’t hurting as much and I feel like I’m on my period cramping wise. We conceived through IUI so we are due to have an early scan 2 weeks today but I do t know what to do I hate this limbo land bit 😢

Melspop · 19/10/2021 10:22

Hello lovely, it’s such a worrying time that sounds exactly like the bleeding for me. Keep monitoring the bleeding and try to contact your doctor. I am on holiday at the moment so can’t visit any doctors my anxiety it through the roof I cannot wait to come home. This Is my 5th day bleeding bright red blood. I have took a pregnancy test for abit of peace of mind however reguardless the situation it would come back positive as the HCG in my blood is high. Please contact your doctor and try to stay calm I know how worrying it is. Wishing you all the best 💗

I spoke to the fertility clinic who were lovely and reassuring and then my gp called me (I called both just in case the clinic told me to speak to my gp) never spoken to this one before I wish I’d still never spoken to him his response was that is annoying for you isn’t it?? When are you back home? Can you not call them fingers crossed we’re all ok xx

Melspop · 19/10/2021 17:36

Wow that’s an awful response from your GP. Have you been booked in for any scans or anything? I’m back Friday 22nd I am going to go straight to the early pregnancy unit in hope I can get some answers. Hope you are ok xx

So sorry to hear you've all got this happening. The exact same happened to me too. At 5 weeks and 7 weeks pregnant I had quite substantial bleeding. I was assessed in A&E both times due to severity of bleed and me not being able to wait and see at the next scan..
Turns out I had a subchorionic haematoma. By 12 weeks it had disappeared and I'm now sat snuggling my 5 week old baby girl. It is the most frightening thing and I must have googled all night and day about it because I was convinced it was something awful but this is a really common occurrence. It was only at my 12 week scan that they explained to me just how common bleeding is in the first trimester!
So hopefully this helps but your mind at rest even a little bit.
Also be aware of the hook effect on pregnancy tests. I didn't know about it so I took a test to put my mind at rest and totally freaked out. When your HCG levels get high enough, the test doesn't develop properly so looks like a weaker positive!

Wishing you all the very best of luck. X

Melspop · 20/10/2021 13:25

Hey, thanks for your response Im so so happy for you and your baby… wishing you all the best on your new adventure 💗

The bleeding is still on going I am now on day 6 however the bleeding has slowed down a lot. I have not had anymore clots other than one on day 1 and day 3 of bleeding.

I cannot wait to get home from my holiday to go straight to the doctors.

With the pregnancy test, i took one yesterday (day 5 of bleeding) and it shown a deep second positive line within seconds so i was thinking this could suggest high HCG.

I am praying everything is ok. When you was bleeding did you still have all the pregnancy symptoms? I feel as if mine have gone.
Xx

Mine have been different since I started to bleed but I’m so sick and exhausted today o have my fingers and toes crossed for us both xx

Sarlou54 · 20/10/2021 16:38

I've got another scan next Thurs so 🤞my bean is ok
Ok I'm on day 4 of spotting.
I've not had many symptoms since I found out apart from feeling drained and peeing abit
Boobs do look slightly bigger and I can see odd veins

Hope everyone that's going through same thing ok.its a horrible thing to go through not know what's going on when you just want to know if your lil bean ok

Melspop · 20/10/2021 18:52

@Sarlou54 fingers crossed for you everything is ok, feeling abit drained is a good sign though hopefully 💗

Did you have any blood clots during bleeding? That’s what I am most worried about… good luck tomorrow! Xx

OP posts:
Sarlou54 · 20/10/2021 19:53

With my first bleed when I first found out I was pregnant had the odd ones the size of sesame seeds every now and again.one about the size of a 5p.that one lasted 10 day before it stopped
Had none so far with this bleed which is a lot lighter this time and just brown in colour
Nurse said it's quite normal at 8 weeks due to your period being due
She did say its a good sign the sac has grown since the last scan but can't say anything for sure untill my next one when I should be able the baby
Yer hopefully but also have a cold so that may be making it worse
Hopefully everything will be ok next week at the scan as my other half already named it lol
Hopefully everything will be ok for you and you'll find out what's happening when you get back off hol 🤞

Olivia199 · 20/10/2021 23:22

I did have both clots and reduction in pregnancy symptoms. I have never in my life felt so frightened at a drop in nausea and sore boobs...! Strangely though, the second I saw that little heartbeat, I was nauseous as hell! I think some of it was over analysing my symptoms or lack there off, especially considering it was fairly early on.
I hope you get home safe and well from your holiday and your mind can be put at rest. Absolutely nothing worse than waiting out the first trimester, let alone when you've been bleeding. Really feel for you, I hated every second of it until I hit "viability" because I felt so paralysed with fear! X

Dizzysheep · 01/11/2021 15:35

How are you all ladies any news? How you are all ok 🤞

Melspop · 01/11/2021 15:53

Hi lovely, thanks for checking up!
When I came off holiday I had to go for a hcg test which came back at 32 I then had to go back 48 later to test my levels again and unfortunately they tested at 17 so I have had an early miscarriage. I am still coming to terms with it as it is so upsetting. The wait for the results are nothing more than awful. Me and my partner have deceived to try again as and when we feel comfortable too. Hope everyone else is ok! Xx
