Tilted uterus bladder sensitivity

Wandering if anyone has had a similar experience - when their tilted uterus moved into the correct position over their bladder with extra sensitivity and frequency of urine? I literally feel like I have to pee all the time and it's really getting me down! (I've tested negative for a UTI) This has been going on since week 13 and I'm only 18 weeks now. Worse when I'm walking and unbearable when jogging or vaguely active which is important to me. Only a short time relief when have been to the toilet. Worried this is only going to get worse as baby continues to grow when I'm so uncomfortable with it already. Midwife thinks my bladder is just getting used to a something laying on it as it never has before, but I've never heard of anyone else with a tilted uterus having this problem.

I also have a tilted uterus and I didn't notice any difference in needing to wee after it corrected itself.

In fact, I had been experiencing diarrhoea while my uterus was still tilted backwards which actually improved once the uterus tilted forward, so that was a relief!

I also have a tilted uterus, always need a wee but not sure if thats because of it or not.

How did you know when it moved into the more normal position?

IslandMumToBe · 18/10/2021 14:07

Hi @hend21 I woke up one morning around 13 weeks and went to the toilet, the within about 10 mins needed to pee again.. was then out for a walk with my partner and kept having to dive into the bushes to pee! I've been like this since, although much more when walking around so can only assume is baby putting pressure on my bladder when I'm moving! All tests for uti negative 🥴
I hope you don't find yourself diving in bushes like me! 😳

I have a tilted uterus and found that during pregnancy, particularly late pregnancy, I was going for a wee at least once an hour. It was not fun. I think we are all different though!!!

IslandMumToBe · 18/10/2021 17:33

@turnthebiglightoff I'm sure this will be me too! if not more frequently 😮 I've always had a BIT of a sensitive bladder, so I think everything with pregancy, and a having a baba suddenly sitting on top it, has just sent it into overdrive!

I have a tilted uterus but it tilts forwards. I have had IVF and during procedures they are always quite shocked how strong the bent at the end of my cervix is. In addition I have an extremely sensitive bladder which I can't empty well. Needing a wee is my first pregnancy symptom so I have been having the same problem as you from day 1. It drives me mad! I have never been in so many toilets in my life; pubs, shops, public toilets and occasionally the bushes. It really dictates where I go and how much I can drink when going out. I'm now half way and found that now and then the baby adds additional pressure and I will feel I'm going to wet myself in the next few seconds to feeling ok a couple minutes later (with ok I mean feeling I need a wee but not feeling any discomfort or pain- that's as good as it gets). The other day I was seriously thinking a catheter wouldn't be such a bad thing and maybe something I should get in the last few months. Hang in there! Xxx

@Matilda128 Aw Matilda, I'm so sorry to hear you're having similar issues. Is is really quite debilitating isn't it.
I kept telling people at work I was having issues with needing to pee all the time, and everyone kept laughing and telling me it was 'just a normal pregancy thing' but I'm getting worse in the second trimester not better so I'm worrying for the third!
Here's hoping we get some relief in the coming weeks!
Not had the easiest pregancy up until now but I know it will all be worth it. Just have to keep reminding myself of that.
Has your midwife been quite supportive or offered any advice?

I have a retroverted uterus too. 5 term pregnancies inc twins and not had issues like that early on. I would ask for a second opinion as it will get worse, may just be a case of nedding to add in exercises to help.

In the early weeks I was with a recurring miscarriage clinic who suggested it may be getting better when my uterus started moving up and my ovaries would calm down (they were huge due to the IVF). But when I reached 12 weeks and I still had so much trouble the midwife said it's just one of those things and some women just have a lot of trouble. Because I also get recurring UTI's the GP said I may need to be referred to a specialist. However she said this would be better after my pregnancy. I think I'll bring it up again at my next midwife appointment. I was so excited I only got up twice during the night- for two nights in a row! but last night I was back to my usual 4 visitsConfused. If I can hold a healthy baby in my arms by the end of this it will be all worth it though. It took us 7 years to get here! Xxx

@Chelyanne I wish exercise would be a solution! As someone who usually lives on running, cycling, swimming, hiking and paddleboarding, this had actually pretty much made me put a stop to all that. I was able to run and walk no problem up until about 13 weeks, but just feel like I'm absolutely bursting when I try and do anything physical at the min. Makes me think it's baby putting pressure on my bladder when there's never been anything on there before. Although this is my first pregnancy so everything is bit baffling!

@Matilda128 Ugh, same with the 4/5 times a night. You poor thing, i totally feel for you - 7 years, you will just want everything to go smoothly.
I will definitely mention this again at my next scan appointment and see if they can shed any light. I don't normally get UTIs but have been reading a bit about interstitial cystitis and wander if some of my previous sensitive bladder issues could be related to this as unusually feel more sensitive around ovulation and recognise some of the triggers that get mentioned in the literature
