Vaccinated mums - how careful are you being?

For those expectant mums who are fully vaccinated, are you taking any additional precautions or totally back to normal?

I’m pretty much back to normal (travelling on busy commuter train, going to small parties etc.) but avoiding large social gatherings. However, I do feel a bit nervous about the busy trains and offices as third trimester is nearing.

It’s very hard to gauge how careful to be and I’ve not seen any stats around the impact of catching Covid when pregnant and fully vaccinated (except of course that the vaccine offers protection against serious infection).

I'm double vaccinated with my booster booked already.

Having seen the effects of Covid firsthand, there's no way I'd take unnecessary risks. Masks stay on indoors and in outside spaces where social distancing might not be possible. I've not done any indoor socialising since conceiving. Work is with PPE appropriate to the setting.

Covid is still very real and can still cause harm. Just ask anyone who's worked in HDU/ICU. Pregnant women are vulnerable, and infection can be harmful to developing babies (eg. blood clots in the placenta blocking oxygen and nutrients), so it really doesn't seem worth the risk. I'd rather have my baby here safely and be extra careful for a few months. The shops and social activities will still be there, when the risks are less.

@Scirocco are pregnant women being offered a booster covid jab now? It didn't look like we were on the list when the government first announced the boosters?

Not taking any extra precautions. DD is at nursery so she is the main route for bugs into this house anyway!

Scirocco · 16/10/2021 16:45

@Harlequin1088 I'm getting it because of my work.

@TheCheeseBadge

That must be really stressful for you. I really hope you recover quickly and baby hangs on for another fortnight!

TheCheeseBadge · 16/10/2021 17:42

Thanks @twoofusburningmatches and @MissChanandlerBong81, I'm hoping baby holds off for another couple of weeks as well!

I'm an early years teacher so exposed every day. It is what it is, I'm just as careful
As possible with hand washing etc but still get climbed on by kids with runny noses etc every day! I am
29 weeks this week so do need to be extra cautious going into third trimester

I've been fully vaxxed since May and am now 20 weeks, I wear masks when shopping and I've only recently seen friends inside their houses because they've all started/just got vaccinated themselves. No more than 3 people though! The busiest place we've been apart from shopping was soft play for my daughters 2nd birthday (chose a crazy early time on a Tuesday specifically to avoid the masses).
My partner still has to distance at work and if they can't he wears a mask anyway.
We haven't been out to a restaurant for almost 2 years now and I'm not planning on soon, seeing as the cases seem to be climbing again!

I have asthma, so the absolute last thing I want is to have covid whilst pregnant AND asthmatic.
I'm also having a home birth (unrelated to covid, I just wanted one anyway) so the midwife will come to my home and the scans at my hospital were well spaced etc.
