Cycle length

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice regarding cycle length.
I have read some worrying stuff on the internet and wonder if anyone is in a similar situation.

I'm 29 I have a regular cycle however it is on the shorter side, 26 days. I ovulate around the 11th day and then get my period roughly 15 days later. I have read that a shorter cycle 26days or less is meant to mean you have a low ovarian reserve. This is very scary for me, we want to start trying for a baby next year and I'm fearful that im leaving it to long and my ovarian reserve is going to get lower and lower.
Has anyone else had short cycles and managed to conceive naturally? Should I be worried?
My doctor said anything from 21 days is fine and I don't need to worry but I read online that studies have shown this means I probably have a really low ovarian reserve.
Any support or advice would be much appreciated.

My cycles are 24/25 days long. Also ovulate on CD11. I’m 36.

I didn’t have a problem conceiving and I’m 22 weeks now. But it took me a while as I had 4 mc plus a mmc blighted ovum then my period disappeared for 5 months nearly. That’s all a different story though.

I was ovulating earlier than CD11 and started taking Ubiquinol and B6 to make eggs a bit better and try to delay ovulation slightly. I’d recommend that and temping - I had an Ovusense to monitor as regular temping wouldn’t work for me as I’m too lazy. The above worked for me.

Best of luck x

My cycles when TTC were usually 24 days. It took a year to conceive DD1. As long as you’re not ovulating before day 10 it’s still in the normal range. I had the opposite problem in that I ovulated day 13 but only had an 11 day luteal phase which can be problematic. Try not to stress OP 💐

Thankyou for your replies ☺️
You read so many conflicting things on google I wonder if it's best to just not 😂
I'm hoping my 26 day cycle is fairly normal, I seem to ovulate and remain regular. I guess the best way to tell is when we try next year, fingers crossed.

My cycle is 24 days. Had no problems conceiving but period is very clockwork. Am late 30s

My cycle is 26 days and I am currently very pregnant and it wasn’t planned, just one occasion of no protection. I am nearly 35 so I think you’ll be okay!

Would you say a 26 day cycle for a nearly 29 year old is ok then? I tested positive on an ovulation test today and it's day 11. My app is now predicting my cycle will be 25 days this month. I read a lot about people's cycles being shorter as they get older? Im still fairly young and my cycle is shorter than others.
My doctors said as long as it's between 21 and 35 she's not worried but yet google and other apps suggest that this is on the shorter side for my age?
It's all rather worrying and confusing. I ovulated on day 13 last month and now day 11.

I think what you're doctor is saying is perfectly fine and 25-26 days doesn't seem particularly short to me at all. It's also normal for ovulation to move about a bit. The luteal phase (the bit between ovulating and your period) is usually roughly the same each month, but ovulation does move around a bit sometimes.

My cycles when TTC were around 21-23 days and I was ovulating around day 15 so I was getting quite worried about it. I'd just come off the implant after 6 years and they'd been about 28-30 before that so I wasn't sure if it was just being a bit older (I'm only 31!) or just my hormones settling after the implant.

I got pregnant on cycle 5 (after 4 months! that's one thing about having a shorter cycle, you get to try again sooner if you're not pregnant!) and currently 26 weeks.

I wouldn't start worrying until you've been trying for a year, it's perfectly normal for healthy couples to take that long to conceive.

Best of luck :)

I don't think short cycles are a problem. I have a 26 day cycle like clockwork- have done for at least a decade. I'm 13 weeks pregnant (conceived age 34) with baby#1 conceived 1st cycle.
I tracked my ovulation that cycle and noticed my peak happened on CD13.

@cheesychips15

Thank you for your reply, I sort of began to feel ok about my 26 day cycle. Suddenly this cycle it's only been 23. This is very low for me and it's definitely concerned me, I usually have a very stable luteal phase but this time it's only been 10 days from my normal 11?
Being a mom is so important to me, we plan to try the start of next year but I am now very worried about my short cycle and if that means I do have low AMH. I know there are tests but I have read this doesn't always mean you can't conceive naturally. I really hope at 29 I haven't left it too late
