Uterine artery Doppler.. Any ideas??

So I went for my 20 week scan yesterday and was told everything is normal but at the end she said briefly I would need further scans because of my Doppler uterine artery measurements?? She gave me an info leaflet and told me not to google stuff or to worry it's just something to do with baby's growth and just know that's it's not serious that they just need to measure the baby again to see if it's growing ok. Obviously I went away panicking and of course I googled but it just seems so complicated to understand.. it also seems very uncommon. I probably won't get replies but does anyone know or has anyone had this same thing happen and can give me a clearer explanation of this please. I will probably end up ringing my midwife just to clarify but just wanted to know if anyone had any info on this first..I inserted a pic of what she wrote in my notes about it highlighted underlined in yellow

I have had the same news today and I can’t tell you how worried I am. I now have to wait 28 weeks to know and I spoke to the midwife and she didn’t reassure me very much. Can I ask how your baby was. Is this just routine etc?

Hi @Thenatalies , hope you are ok. Sorry I can't offer much advice but wanted to let you know that you aren't alone, my results are pretty much identical to yours and baby was measuring small at my 20 week scan today so pretty worried. DH and I are googling like mad but maybe that isn't wise

Means you are at increased risk off preeclampsia and SGA ( Small baby for gestation age) they monitor with extra scan, midwife does Blood pressure checks and urine dips for preeclampsia and growth scans monitor babies weight. Currently going through same thing. Xxx

Hi everyone, we have something similar and just wondered what happened in the end?

LondonladyTTC · 09/01/2026 19:48

Hi @PMB12, sorry to hear about your results. Have you been booked in for growth scans and prescribed asprin? My baby was born on the 1st centile at 39 weeks and is now a perfectly healthy and normal sized three year old! I have a second and didn't have the same issue again.
The growth scans are super important as can track when baby stops growing along their centile, I was induced as soon as this happened. Baby was small but perfect. Wishing you all the best
