How much are ultrasound pictures from the NHS?

I think they were 2 for £5 or 4 for £10. One sonographer gave us a few free, another was asking how we were going to pay before she'd print them (it's all contactless).
I've had some private scans at Ultrasound Direct and some of the hospital sonographers work there, you get loads of pictures, we joked about it last time.

Meant to be £5 a go or 3 for £10 here, I think we paid once with DD at three scans, got two sets of freebies.

This time I've had about 10 scans mostly later on, paid at 12 week and 20 week and then had the odd freebie when the sonographer has caught a shot they were pleased with, which was nice.

With DD a couple of years ago, we bought a couple and then she gave us a couple extra for free and then at the 20 week scan, she wouldn't let us buy one and gave us one for free because DD was at such a bad angle the picture was terrible. DC2 we had the 12 week scan this week and bought one picture for £5, no freebies this time

Mine were £5 each but one time I paid more for a few and I literally got the same photo 3 times. So now I just have one and send it on to anyone that wants to see!

JLQ1020 · 12/10/2021 19:48

Wow mine were free the thought of paying for ones didn't even cross my mind! I got loads each time as well.

11 years ago when I had my son, had 3 scans and were all free and had multiple pictures at each scan.
This time round it’s £4 each and I’m only allowed one.

moonshine3600 · 12/10/2021 19:50

£6 for one
£20 for four

But the sonographer gave me 8.

Allthesefolks · 12/10/2021 19:55

£5 but free last year

£5 each or 4 for £20!!! Which I found extortionate. We were very lucky in every scan that the sonographer would print us lots off and told us to just pay what we could afford which was very kind! I do always pay though as I know maternity units are underfunded anyway. But yes ... very pricey!

First pregnancy £5 for 3 or 4 pics, second pregnancy (this year) free.
