Just that really. What were you doing? How were you feeling? What did you try?

40+6 over here and feel like I have tried anything, desperately want to avoid induction and sweeps. Will try anything!

Xx

40+4 with my first so reading with interest. It might be worth trying a sweep OP if you're not too opposed. I didn't like the idea of it but I consented at my last appointment at 40+1 and it was fine. Mine was a failed sweep though because my cervix was too tightly closed....I'm going to ask them to try again at my next appointment.

Adamine · 11/10/2021 16:29

@thisplaceisapigsty

Curry then sex. Not sure which did it.
Same! My first was born at 41+4.
Adamine · 11/10/2021 16:32

My daughter surprised me by coming at 38 weeks so never reached the point of being fed up.
@8dpwoah I am sniffing clary sage, bouncing on a ball and watching Marley & Me 🐶
At this point in pregnancy that's a top notch night in isn't it 😂

whiteroseredrose · 11/10/2021 18:06

Stewed apricots worked both times!!

floweroverload · 11/10/2021 18:14

Castor oil both times (quite a while ago)
Very much NOT recommended at all by medical professionals but I didn't know at the time. Luckily all was well and for my sister and sisters in law that also took it.

summerhillgang · 11/10/2021 18:15

@8dpwoah I cried my eyes out! Then ate some spring rolls. Actually getting a few surges now 👀

summerhillgang · 11/10/2021 18:17

@whiteroseredrose oh that's a new one, did you stew from fresh fruit?

OP posts:
whiteroseredrose · 11/10/2021 20:51

No. Dried apricots stewed.

Worked the first time so we tried it 2nd time for a laugh. Lo and behold it worked again!

I think that would have to be on my 'not that desperate yet' list 😂 I couldn't even eat dates as they come, or even in flapjacks!
BertieBotts · 11/10/2021 21:22

Walking and sex.

TheVolturi · 12/10/2021 11:33
@TheVolturi wow, did you sniff for long? I've got some so will try now x
Only just seen this, no, it pretty much got me started quite quickly!
Has anything happened?

babyboybluex · 12/10/2021 11:40

Had a sweep at 40 weeks which triggered minor contractions then 40+2 my partner and I were slow dancing to Andrea Bocelli at 2am (he was doing a live gig in Italy and it was magical). Baby was born at 10.02am x

summerhillgang · 12/10/2021 13:00

@TheVolturi oh wow very effective. I defo felt like something was coming on last night but it's subsided.

Just went for a walk with hubs and lunch in the park. Now bouncing on the ball and watching 'Eat, pray, love'. Hope today is the day! X

Best of luck!! Keep sniffing it while you bounce!

4kinhell · 13/10/2021 10:14

1st Baby - 39+1 castor oil (not recommended) I only tried this because my cervix was already 2cm and I only had a teaspoon so it didn't give me bad side effects.

2nd baby - 39+6 born on due date. Long walk, hot curry and half a pint of lager shandy (only bit of alcohol the whole pregnancy) went into labour 2hrs later

3rd baby - induced at 39weeks

4th baby - 38+4 currently in slow labour and trying everything to keep the contractions going.
Pineapple, sex, walking, spicy food, evening primrose oil, raspberry red leaf tea and tablets, bouncing an a ball. Keep thinking this is it and then everything stops 😩

If your baby isn't head down or your cervix isn't favourable or already dilating nothing is going to work I'm afraid 😩

Some midwifes offer early sweeps which may be worth asking, mine don't offer until 41 weeks

DrJump · 13/10/2021 10:16

DS1 Time (41+3)
DS2 time and induction gel (42+1)
DD induction gel (39 weeks)

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 13/10/2021 10:23

DC 1 - team of midwives
DC2- season finale of Game of Thrones. That sums my kids up perfectly!

33goingon64 · 13/10/2021 10:24

DC1: day before due date, did supermarket shop and trip to the dump with a car boot full of stuff. No-one helped me though I was quite clearly about to pop (and I'm stupidly independent). Went into labour that evening.

DC2: 2 weeks overdue, would have gone in to be induced next day but I reckon the labour got started by me twisting my ankle and falling over in the garden. Had to limp into birthing centre!

Don't recommend either method frankly.

summerhillgang · 13/10/2021 11:33

@4kinhell 41+1 now and had a complete meltdown today to DH. Just so many tears. In a horrendous mood, everything and everyone is pissing me off. Did have a burst of energy afterwards though and did some cleaning, ordered some items that I've run out etc

Baby has been fully engaged and in LOA for about 5-6 weeks now. Had my bloody show a week and a half ago. Lost lots of plug that same week, so hoping cervix has done some of the work. I've begged baby to come soon!

girlmom21 · 13/10/2021 11:34

Insisting that I didn't want an august baby so of course I went into labour on the 30th Grin

ItsSunnyOutside · 13/10/2021 11:35

Having sex!
1 week overdue, dtd, 20 mins later, my waters broke!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 13/10/2021 11:40

Its so hard at that stage, you have my sympathies! I went for a long walk, like 5 miles, slow and plenty of stops for snacks/drinks and went into labour the next day. The walking day was 41+2, so hopefully soon for you!

4kinhell · 13/10/2021 12:08

@summerhillgang aww bless you, it's horrid and I know it means nothing but you are so so close now xx

whosaidtha · 13/10/2021 12:12

I was overdue with both of mine. As hard as this is the best thing to do is relax. Biologically relaxing is what will do it. You don't want to be giving birth while being attacked by a sabre tooth tiger. So sleeping, relaxing, gentle stroll. Don't eat anything funny as it just upsets your bowls which is also the last thing you want. Good luck.
