Anterior placenta

Hi, just wanted to start a thread for those with an anterior placenta.
I was wondering why I hadn't felt as much movement as I did with my first, and found out last week at our 20 week scan that I have an anterior placenta.

All movement that I do feel is low down and towards my insides, not up and out like my 1st baby.

Anyone else have one and when did movements get stronger?

I’ve got an anterior low lying placenta, although I had been feeling movements prior to my 20 week scan I was surprised when they told me it was anterior!

I seem to have a bit of a ‘blind spot’ where I don’t feel much movement/it’s very gentle if I do feel it - in the spot where my placenta is. I’m 24 weeks now, and the movement’s are definitely getting stronger, especially on the sides/area around where the placenta isn’t!

I had one, 22 weeks I felt my first big kick.
Then few and far between until 30w when I could feel him constant.
I was in MAU afew times getting checked over.

Thanks guys, I felt some seriously strong movements yesterday and my husband felt his first kick last night which was so good!

First pregnancy I had a complete covering anterior placenta. Hardly felt any movement and no kicks at all. Spent lots of time going in for monitoring. Second pregnancy had similar but felt slightly more movement if I lay very still.

Honestly, it was hugely stressful.

I had an anterior placenta with DC2.
I didn’t feel any movements until 21/22 weeks!! And when I did, it was always round the sides of my bump, never at the front. It was only towards the later weeks when I started feeling obvious jabs and rolling movements at the front.

@PremieMummy I am pregnant with number 2, and also second time with an anterior placenta. First pregnancy I felt movements from 18 weeks, this pregnancy was closer to 20/22 weeks. Movement was the same as you describe and could usually only be felt if I lay flat on my back! But since around 26 weeks movement was stronger and now at almost 39 it's rather painful some times.

I have an anterior placenta and this is my first. I did not feel movements till closer to 24 weeks and these were not strong until past 28 weeks. I'm 36 weeks pregnant now and have been in the hospital twice for monitoring during my pregnancy due to me being anxious around reduced movement (both times ok thankfully). My experience seems to be very similair/common with other ladies with anxiety with an anterior placenta. If you do suffer with anxiety, I'd advise always speak to the midwives first, don't google or search through forums. This made me so much worse!

All the best with your pregnancy journey

I had an anterior placenta with my first baby and didn’t really feel much even at full term! I would feel the ‘downwards’ kicks and the occasional limb out of my side but I worried a lot about not being able to feel much. This time my placenta is posterior and low so I feel everything! Can really tell the difference..bad thing is my baby likes to have a small party in the middle of the night

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow with an anterior placenta fully covering my stomach. I literally just stated feeling little thuds in the last few days. Feel very jealous of the mums who can feel all the wiggles

I'm 20 weeks and have been told I have an anterior placenta. I haven't felt any movement yet and was so nervous for the 20 week scan because of this! Hope I start feeling kicks! Feel as though I'm missing out Sad
