Reduced movement but checks are fine?

I'm 38 weeks and baby has gone so quiet. I've been to triage and checks all show everything is fine, I even had a scan which showed all ok.

I'm still having reduced movements though but it was only yesterday I was in getting checked!

Has anyone else had this? What would you do?

I would call the midwives and have a chat about whether they feel its worth checking you again today.

BlueCookieMonster · 09/10/2021 08:46

If you’re still not happy with movements, just go back up to triage and get checked again. Doesn’t matter what happened yesterday, that was yesterday’s assessment. You need a new one today.

Kateb47 · 09/10/2021 08:48

@StormInAGinGlass it's definitely worth calling today to get checked out again.

TerryOrange · 09/10/2021 08:51

Go back today. I had the same thing snd the scheduled an induction but I happened to Labour before then

They don’t mind honestly

StormInAGinGlass · 09/10/2021 08:57

Thank you, I've been checked three times over the past couple of weeks and was only scanned yesterday. I asked them why if everything is ok is he not moving as much? They've just said it's positional but to go back whenever I'm worried, but if it's the same every day do I go in every day Blush

Yes, you go in every day until you’re happy with your movements

H0cusP0cus · 09/10/2021 09:04

Yep keep going in until your happy.
It's very important at any stage but never ignore this close to the end.
It's their job to look after you both so don't feel your being a pain because you aren't.

Allthesefolks · 09/10/2021 09:08

It’s so worrying isn’t it, I was so stressed with DC2’s lack of movement as she was a pregnancy after a loss. Yes keep going in, bear in mind they will probably schedule an induction after a certain amount of episodes of reduced movement (in my trust it was 3). Hope it goes ok.

StormInAGinGlass · 09/10/2021 09:15

Thank you all, I'll give them a call Smile

I had that at 38 plus 2 (he was fine in the end) and they gave me the option for an induction as I was over 38weeks if I was still worried about the movements (I opted for it). As others have said though keep going in and calling, they were very clear to me if I went home at any stage I felt he wasn’t moving or was worried to come straight back in and they would monitor him again. You aren’t bothering them they would much rather you did that

ajauagsk · 09/10/2021 10:03

Definitely keep going back OP.

Glassofshloer · 09/10/2021 10:04

Personally, I would go back & ask to be induced. At 38 week you’re term, it isn’t worth the risk. Good luck.

EatSprayGlove · 09/10/2021 10:06

Agree with others do get checked. I was told as baby ran out of room changes of movement was to be expected but I was over 40 weeks with both mine and even at 42 weeks my movements hadn't reduced. I can't see the harm in getting checked but as others say be prepared that they may induce to be on the safe side.

timeisnotaline · 09/10/2021 10:07

Do you do the cold glass of water and lie on your side to see if that wakes baby up? I think kicks do reduce in the last few weeks but not in quantity, it’s just baby doesn’t have much room left to move. But I would never ever tell a mum worried about reduced movement not to go in and get checked, so if it’s bothering you do go back and get checked!
