Very embarrassing question, 6 weeks pregnant

Hiya I'm panicking so much, sorry for this extremely embarrassing question.
I'm just over 6 weeks pregnant, I had a miscarriage at the same time in June which is why I'm worried.
I went to the loo and after I wiped I saw bright red blood stains, there was no blood in toilet. I realised it's not coming from my vagina but from my bum, not massive amounts but streaks of red blood. Is that a sign of miscarriage starting or something else. I'm so panicked about it. I have a call from my doctor later anyway because they know I'm pregnant and can ask her as well this afternoon. Is this a bad sign? I'm so worried

Hey @Lilybow - this happened to me at the same time as you (I even posted a thread on it).

Are you constipated or even slightly? I was and found that from straining it caused some bleeding. Not had it since and we saw our babies heartbeat after all of it. Try and not worry but keep an eye on things incase it happens again. It is common to bleed after a BM when pregnant though x

Hey,

Congratulations, and sorry to hear about your previous loss.

I didn't have this specifically but I did have bad constipation all through the first trimester which I think is pretty common. It could be that the bleeding is related to this? For me constipation was irritating my cervix and causing spotting so I know how alarming it is seeing blood.
It would definitely be worth mentioning to the doctor but if it is constipation its really easy to manage with food choices, staying hydrated, and medication if needed.

I've never seen this mentioned as a sign of miscarriage etc. so I would really think it's just a side product of lots of changes your body is going through.

Hope the conversation later puts your mind at easy x

I am a bit constipated I guess, I just checked again and it's definitely not from my vagina. I'm just terrified of miscarriage again and today is the day I miscarried last time. Just not had this happen before. 😕

Possibly piles?
I had them throughout and they would bleed every so often

I often have a slightly bleeding bum. It's not great but totally harmless if it only happens now and then. You can have a little fissure (a little tear) if you have been constipated and pass dry or hard stools. I understand that you are worried but there is no connection between this and miscarriage. Being constipation (or other way round) is usually a good sign because it means that your progesterone is higher than normal as that hormone really messes with your digestive system. High progesterone is important in pregnancy. Once you have one a fissure it can be quite difficult to get rid of it because if you go again it may open up again and you may have some more blood. Because of this it really important to keep it clean and keep really well hydrated. Having extra fiber may also help. Bad news as wel is that once they start healing they can really itch. You may also have piles but these are more common later in pregnancy. But the good news is that bleeding from the bum has nothing to do with miscarriages. Take care x

I had this and I had bad constipation and piles 🙈🙈 it was horrible

I’d guess it’s probably that

Hopefully your doctor can help reassure you anyway x

Piles can be painless and bleed, the blood is bright red and there will be bright red blood mostly when you wipe after a poo. Other bum option is anal fissures, can be caused by very hard and jaggy poos tearing the skin a bit on the way out! Blood is also bright red from these and they sting a bit. In any case, if it's from your bum, I wouldn't be worried about baby!

If it happens often it could be a sign of IBD (Crohns or Colitis) so definitely don't ignore it if it happens again. But like other people have said it is most likely piles or a fissure so not too much to be worried about!
