I had this when I was pregnant. I used to sleep holding a small soft toy in each hand with a sock over like a mitten to keep them in place! It stopped my fingers from getting stuck in fists, and reduced the painful burning feeling. Ridiculous, but it did help (didn't get rid of it, just made it more bearable).

Thanks for the tip @LubaLuca

I suffered for years - I found my fingers used to swell up at night so I had to stop wearing rings for bed. I also found adjusting my posture during the day (using ergonomic equipment at work) and trying not to sit or sleep with my wrists bent.

Now pregnant, it's back, not much I've found helps other than what I did before.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/10/2021 09:47

It's a pain isn't it @Dipsydoodlenoodle I don't have my rings on one read to elevate your arm On a pillow at night so will try that but not optimistic as I move around so much

Have you splints for it?

mrssunshinexxx · 07/10/2021 11:55

@Garman nothing yet

Get some, they'll help.

HeyFloof · 07/10/2021 14:45

Get splints off amazon and sleep in them, makes a huge difference.

Opus17 · 07/10/2021 14:54

Second the splints. I was wearing them at night from 16 weeks and all the time from 30. Luckily I was signed off due to COVID and could just lie on the sofa all day cause my hands were so bad, I couldn't do anything. You have my sympathy and I hope it doesn't get worse for you

HeyFloof · 07/10/2021 15:10

Fingers crossed it doesn't get any worse for you.

If you're still suffering when you're due though, can I suggest getting some zip up sleepsuits and/or baby bundlers (they're like baby nighties with an elasticated bottom)? Especially to take to the hospital.

My CP didn't go properly till a few weeks after ds was born and the poppers used to do my head in especially at night. The vests were bad enough and they only had two poppers.

Thanks ladies

I had this and it was awful. Up multiple times a night.

In my case it got a lot better within days of the birth but I have been left with nerve damage and residual weakness.

Have you spoken to your GP and midwife?

If you can afford it, buy some splints from Amazon or boots.

If you can afford it, see if you can find a private physio who might be able to help.

For the PGP, I think there might be more you can do - again, if you can afford it, a women’s physio or an osteopath may be able to help. Are you sleeping with a pillow between your knees?

mrssunshinexxx · 07/10/2021 21:43

@MyCatHatesWhiskas it's horrid isn't it. I see a phyiso for my PGP just waiting for her to get back to me re carpal tunnel. Yes I start off with pillow between my leg but I move around a lot in my sleep unfortunately
