Maternity leave

I'm due to have my first baby in the next 3 months. I told my manager I was pregnant pretty much as soon as I found out and I also gave them in the relevant mat forms as soon as I recieved them. I sent these to my manager and to HR department off my own back, they never asked for them
Now we've briefly spoken about my maternity leave whilst in passing conversation with other colleagues but never formally and I was planning on starting my leave in the next 6 weeks.
My job hasn't been advertised, I haven't been asked when I would like to start leave, or advised on anything like maternity pay?
I work for a small organisation so I don't know if this is my error or they are just being a bit behind with everything

I'm sure I instigated both conversations, but baffling they've not asked you. I'd send both your manager and HR an email confirming the date and asking for a breakdown of mat pay, ask them if they've got everything they need from you, and maybe pre-empt them continuing to be a bit crap and ask for the return to work procedure.

Yes I was thinking of doing it this way, maybe just emailing and asking if there's anything I need to do between now and me going off to help my maternity cover when they start, maybe this will subtly kick start them, or I'm hoping lol

I would contact them to let them know when you're planning to go off, ensure your mat pay is sorted, make sure you leave your work in good order etc. The rest is up to them - if they are dilatory in sorting mat cover then that's their choice, and I don't think you should worry about that.

You should have told them at 25 weeks when you wanted your leave to start and they should have written back and confirmed your start date.

www.gov.uk/maternity-pay-leave/how-to-claim

This tells you what you should do and what they should do in order to confirm your maternity leave/pay

@osmo18 Your employer is meant to confirm in writing that they are accepting your maternity leave arrangements within 28 days of receiving your pregnancy notification (i.e. your MATB1). If they haven't done this then it is their error. But for your benefit, I would definitely chase them - you don't want any delays in receiving your maternity pay when you go off on leave x

I think normally you should have received written and signed confirmation, at least this is what I got for both pregnancies (easy case with me since I started both leaves at 39 weeks).

Approaching mat leaves I then started to put together extensive notes and tips to give to my replacement, my boss was pretty happy about my notes, I think they still use them to train new personell Grin
