does cs mean a long like 'first time' labour with the second?

I had a cs for my ds 8 years ago, and the labour had only progressed to 3cm dilation. Does this mean this birth will be just like a first timer - considering it was so long ago inbetween this one and my ds and also the first labour didn't progress very far? (as you can probably tell I'm starting to get ever so slightly apprehensive about the whole labour/ giving birth malarkey!)

As far as I know it will be like a first-timer from the point that you got to last time (eg 3cm). I am a week over with my 2nd, having had an elective section with my first, so for me it will be totally like a first birth. I don't even know what a contraction feels like, so you are ahead of me on that!

a lot can depend on the position of this baby, e.g a posterior baby can make for a longer labour, and slower dilation... i had a c.,s for failure to progress first time, and had a VBAC with DD.. 15 hours of contractions to get to 3 cm, 12 hours at home, as i stayed until ctx were 3 mins apart.. examined, she was OP, no dilation so hoiked off the bed... she turned, and my established labour was 3 hrs 15 minutes !

Like camilla says, it depends on the circs. I had a cs first time - failure to progress, although I did get to about 5cm I think.

4 years ago I had a vbac - very mild twinges started around 4pm, went to hospital around 11pm, was probably in established labour around 1am (I'm guessing), ds came out around 6am. So 13 to 14 hours from beginning to end, but the last 5 hours absolutely flew by.

I'm hoping I won't even make to the hospital this time
