Baby movement

So I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant and for the past week I've started feeling baby moving, the best way I can describe it is, it's like a little gold fish swimming around in my uterus but the thing is whenever I tell my OH and he goes to touch it he can't feel it and tbh neither can I. Like I can feel it internally but putting my hand on my stomach where I actually feel it moving I can't feel it at all which is really weird. Does anyone have any idea why? Is it still too small to feel it externally? This is my second pregnancy so I wasn't aware of any of this so early on, I just remember it was around 20+ weeks when I started to feel my son kicking externally with my hand and so did my OH. Is anyone else around 18 weeks pregnant and can actually feel the baby moving externally??

If you've only just started feeling it move inside it will be a while before you feel it outside. You can feel the sensation of it brushing against you but until it has the strength to physically move the muscles around your stomach that won't transmit to the outside.

My DH never managed to feel DD, every time I put his hand there she stopped moving! I'm 23 weeks with number 2 and DH only felt him for the first time two nights ago.

@MrsRubyMonday yeah I did actually google it and it did say that it won't be until after 20 weeks that you'll start to feel movement on the outside as right now baby is too small x

@mummyh2016 that's funny coz my OH was the complete opposite with my first pregnancy, whenever he would put his hand on my belly that's when the baby would start kicking and moving! It kind of freaked me out because I was thinking how does the baby know!? Well now he's 2 years old and is a proper daddy's boy lol

I think films and TV make us think that the first kicks are something that can be felt on the outside. That 'omg baby's kicking, come here and feel it!' moments we see so often.

Realistically, and logically if you really think about it, mum is always always going to feel the first little movements and flutterings before they are strong enough to be felt on the outside.
