30 weeks, COVID positive and don’t know what to do!

I am 30 weeks pregnant and tested positive for Covid a few days ago. Started just feeling tired, and just a bit under the weather but I’m now coughing lots, my chest hurts and I’m finding I need to take quite deep breaths at times to feel like I’m getting enough air in.

My midwife and maternity unit are aware that I am positive and told me to just rest and keep hydrated etc but I’m wondering whether I should be seen. And if so, do I try and get seen by the maternity assessment centre or would I need to go to A&E? I don’t have any concerns with baby as such, baby very active still as per usual pattern which is why I don’t think they’ll see me. I just don’t know what to do? I’m just sat at home crying and worrying and wondering how it will affect baby.

Anyone have any positive stories or advice please?

Thanks all for your replies.

I managed to get some sleep last night propped upright mostly and don’t feel as breathless this morning.

I have messaged my community midwife to update her and see if there’s anything she recommends.

My hospital doesn’t seem to have a Covid hub or anything that keeps in contact with you that I know of but that is a great reassurance for those with Covid.

I hadn’t heard about the blood thinners or home oximeter readings but I will ask the midwife about it.

Glad to hear you are doing ok and have been in touch with your midwife, it’s such a hard and stressful time but you will come through it and should start feeling better after a week or so! I had my first jab early in January but delayed the second I still don’t have a good sense of taste or smell after 2 months but my energy came back after a few weeks and breathlessness does get better. Try not to worry about your little baby you will be meeting them soon and they will give you extra monitoring if you feel worried during the last few weeks x
