Hip pain 31 weeks

Sleeping on my side with my pregnancy pillow has been fine for me until recently, I'm now experiencing excruciating pain in my outer hips on both sides (whatever side I'm lying on) I get relief for minutes at a time when I turn over then it wakes me again with the pain in the other hip Sad

Any recommendations to relieve this? Should I mention to midwife or is this just normal pregnancy ailments Confused

Thanks. X

It’s pgp. Look at pelvic partnership website for lots of info. Don’t lift or carry heavy things, reduce what you are doing, ie housework, walking etc. It can get much worse, usually it will go after birth. Check out the website they also run a fb page with lots of advice and help on.

I had heard of this but I thought I would have symptoms in the day too not just while sleeping, is that not correct?

I've got this. Went to the physio and they said it was trochanteric bursitis. They gave me a load of exercises to do as well as some general advice. Posture is key, try not to lean into your lower back and wear shoes with proper arches. I've been sleeping on a folded duvet and they also advised either ice or heat regularly to reduce the swelling.

I’ve had this since 24 weeks. Nothing seems to help… no advice, but I wanted to let you know that you’re not alone! My midwife said it was normal and offered no advice.

I've just researched it and that does seem to be more likely what I've got. Did midwife refer you for physio? X

Oh no I am sorry you're suffering too. Especially for so long. x

@uglynakedguy0808 I didn't go through my midwife, just filled out an econsult with my GP asking for a physio referral. They sent me appointment details and I saw someone within three days. I'm 27 weeks now (second pregnancy so it started early!) but it feels a lot more manageable. There are still some nights where it wakes me up as it's so painful though!

I've had exactly the same, it feels like my hips - on the outside - are really bruised. But only when lying down sleeping on them. Also suffering PGP, I did tell my midwives who were most un-sympathetic unfortunately.
