Found out yesterday I am pregnant took a clear blue early test and then digital which says 1-2 weeks which I presume would mean 4 weeks? Last period was on the 20th august! Really happy but also petrified as this will be my first time. Also I can’t stop crying over the most ridiculous things not sure if this is just because I’m shocked or the hormones.
Just wanted advice on when I should contact my GP?

It depends where you are based - in Scotland, we can book in our appointments after 4 weeks through the health switchboard Smile Congratulations x

ASAP if you’d like to be referred to talk over your options if you’re unsure about proceeding with the pregnancy. If you definitely are proceeding just over the next few weeks to get into their system to have a booking in with a MW, which wouldn’t be until 10ish weeks.
You won’t need to see GP in that instance, the receptionist can just put it on the system.

Flowers OP tears are normal.

In my area (midlands) they want you to be 7 weeks before calling the GP. I didn’t really know what to do as it’s my first pregnancy, but I’ve just been showing up where and when I’m told to!

I just self refer myself to the maternity unit in chosen hospital. Saves u unnecessary appointments with gp. They dont follow your pregnancy anyway, only the midwives. Gp only if u need prescriptions for something

Congratulations OP. I’m 25 weeks with my second and still cry over ridiculous things, did with my first too. I rang my GP surgery at about 5 weeks to make an appointment for booking in at 8 weeks (the midwife team are based there). It varies between areas though, but they should be able to point you in the right direction anyway. Booking in is just bloods, urine, BP, weight and lots of questions about your medical history. Then your first scan will be around 12 weeks. There aren’t many appointments in the early days. The NHS website is good for advice about food to avoid etc.
