A small mark on my bra and on my top. I hope it wasn't noticeable at school today.

So, breast pads? There are so big! Could I get away with loo roll??

I feel so weird.

Ho ho ho, I remember that well. Started much earlier for me I'm afraid 22 weeks with first baby - it stains everything as well, you look like you have a custard stain on your top. Okay, breast pads, they really suck don't they, there is a solution though - get some terry towelling (softest you can find) real nappy liners, fold in half and put them in your bra, they mould to your shape and absorb without going hard like breast pads.

kelbel · 06/12/2007 21:16

ah, no experience I'm afraid but noticed your thread. I'm 39 weeks and kept thinking it would happen, but not yet! I'd prob go with breast pads to be safe tho, wouldn't want to risk an embarrasing moment!

whostuffedmystockings · 06/12/2007 21:17

Or lilypads are apparently v good but never tried them myself (I used the nappy pads till DD was six months old and the leakage stopped. I'm avoiding the problem this pregnancy by having DD still breastfeed thus ensuring my norks are sufficiently drained at all times!

kelbel · 06/12/2007 21:18

what a good tip - I'm going to remember that! I'm feeling left out with no leaking now! Hope there's some in there!

scorpio1 · 06/12/2007 21:19

breast pads are best IMO....horrid i know, but also wear them when you sleep, i wake up to wet bed patches .

Did you see my msg the other day that im having a dd?

whostuffedmystockings · 06/12/2007 21:21

Kelbel - oooh you just wait, I thought I leaked really badly till I actually gave birth and woke up with sodden sheets - even DH had to move because the entire bed was milky for quite a few nights!

BellaBear · 06/12/2007 21:22

scorpio! Yes, I did, and forgot to write back - many congratualtions!

whostuffedmystocking - custard stain, that's it exactly! Only realised what it was because it was alos on my bra and in exactly the right place. Will try out the towelling idea from the week, but I suppose I had better use pads tomorrow for work. It wasn't much, but a drop is enough to show. Thanks for the idea

kelbel - good luck for hte next few weeks!

Oh and no to loo roll, the milk dries and the paper adheres to your norks, you try and pull it off and OUCHY, you lose skin from your nipples. Not a great idea when you are about to give birth!

Get some lovely thin breast pads, don't buy cheapo ones, they itch and feel nasty.

With dd I leaked from 14 weeks and was practically ready for milking by the time she was born.

Strangely with DTs, I barely leaked at all.

BellaBear · 06/12/2007 21:26

When you say 'stains' do you mean it doesn't come out?????????!!!!!

I bought some washable ones on the advice of a friend. Which are best, reusable or disposable?

OP posts:
whostuffedmystockings · 06/12/2007 21:30

Reusable are okay but they go hard at the edges - I found that the disposable ones didn't cope for more than two hours with my leakage issues (if only you could get mooncups for norks - hey NORKCUPS - now there's an idea )

The other thing with reusable ones is you need to wash them in the bag and when you forget (and you will) they go down the washing machine pipes and block them and then you have the shame of having the repair man pull them out and say 'think that might be your problem love' .....I did this three times, the last time I learned to repair the machine myself and took the hint and switched to nappy liners.

scorpio1 · 06/12/2007 21:32

you have to change them really often or they start to smell and make your breasts wet, it is not nice!

BellaBear · 06/12/2007 21:49

pregnancy is full of wonderful surprises, isn't it ?

Just be careful not to wear a white close fitting top for work tomorrow, it will look like 2 saucers !!

BellaBear · 06/12/2007 22:01

ha!

do you know, I got taken to mothercare and EVERYTHING I bought was designed to collect LEAKS. Nappies, maternity pads, muslins, breast pad, baby wipes, cotton wool.

There is an episode of men behaving badly in which gary gives his dp dorothy a present - its a kit of his bodily fluids i think after we have babies we could produce loads of types! it does stop though, i promise! (and then you do it again, oh yeah, and again!)

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 06/12/2007 22:11

I found that cheap disposable ones were ok for pregnancy as although I 'leaked' constantly - it was only a small amount. For afterwards though you need the good ones. I've used Boots extra large ones - which showed through clothes less because they cover more of the bosom - they aren't very thick though so you need to change them a bit. Avent ones are also good - but a bit dear. Never go on with the reusable ones - I know it's bad of me but I like throwing the blithering things away

BellaBear · 06/12/2007 22:13

Will look into those, thank you northernlurker
