Getting really down as with my 1at I came of the pill in August and was pregnant by December and we were not even actually trying.

We have been trying for our 2nd for the last few months and nothing has happened and I was so disappointed when AF arrived this morning.

I have been of the pill for well over a year, (but we haven't actually been trying that long as we were using condoms or pull out method until about 5 months ago)

I've ordered some ovulation sticks of amazon for this cycle as I'm sure I'm getting my dates slightly wrong. Can someone please advise how to actually use them? If the positive result a few days before actual ovulation ?

Also would anyone recommend and vitamins or anything? I've read a lot about conception plus but I'm not sure !!

Is there anything else I should or shouldn't be doing as I'm getting really concerned something is wrong😥😥😥😥

And your partner needs vitamins too. Zinc, vitamin d & c, l-arginine, folic acid...sometimes it's not us, it's them.

I was very lucky in that I got pregnant almost straight away both times. I'm fairly healthy generally, low BMI etc but still had drinks at the weekend etc so didn't change much apart from I began taking folic acid and vitamin D a few months prior to conceiving. I used OPKs which is a good idea as you could be missing your window completely (don't use first morning wee - mid morning is better and then when the line starts to go darker test twice a day to catch your peak). Once you get the hang of it, try to make sure you have sex a day or two before you ovulate so the sperm is ready and waiting for the egg! Good luck.

Took dp and I 6 cycles to get pregnant, I'm now nearly 22 weeks. I took pregnacare conception and used opks to track ovulation. With opks, I did an almost full month of testing daily so I had a good amount of data to use for prediction, then the months following I just did them from around cd10 until I'd had my peak. The peak is supposed to happen approx 24 hours before you ovulate. I typically got my peak somewhere between cd13 and cd17 (so wasn't the exact same each month) and just dtd as much as possible from when the opks started looking stronger. It really is frustrating, and so disappointing when af shows up so I understand how you feel (I myself wrote a similar post on here about how hard I was finding it after a few months of trying). It is still early days though so try not to worry too much, 🤞 for you.

How often do you have sex, and are your cycles regular?

We did it every day around my fertile window according to my Glow app as my cycles were regular, and the rest of the time every other day (we took a break whenever I was on my period). I didn’t bother with ovulation sticks they never showed as positive for me and I found it stressful.

I take metformin and myo inositol which regulate my hormones and helped me ovulate each month and have regular cycles of 30 days.

Does your partner take men’s health vitamins? We started to go down the fertility treatment route before I got pregnant and to get the ball rolling with that men have to have a sperm test. We were so surprised that my husband had a low count! He started on the vitamins and when he retested it had improved. Remember it takes two to tango ☺️ I have pcos so always assumed the issue would just be with me!

Good luck x

Have you had your Iron levels checked? Low iron can affect fertility.

Shelddd · 29/09/2021 03:54

It took us 2 years. We had actually given up after a year and decided to do IVF and were just waiting for some money to come in so consider myself lucky, wasn't expecting it. They make it sound like if it doesn't happen within 1 year it won't happen but it did for us. Who knows. 6 months is so early and you're so young I'd give it some time before I invested any significant money (besides vitamins and nutrition which are always a good investment)

Hi there OP! I am sorry that it's not happening how you expected it. There is amazing advice here from all the ladies, but I would also add try to focus on having a very healthy lifestyle (both you and your dh), no smoking, no drinking, no sugary drinks, no caffeine, no processed foods, plenty of exercise and home-cooked meals and snacks. There are many prenatal vitamins, do not forget omega 3 and folic acid, and of course vitamin D. Also, I would visit a gp, just to give you a blood test to check that everything is okay. Good luck! I am sending you wishes that you'll see the bfp soon!

Km12345 · 29/09/2021 09:35

Thank you all for your advice

Thank you @IsabelHerna I work park time so 90% of the week its home cooked meals and we both exercise regularly so I will continue with this . Myself and my husband dont smoke and very rarely drink so there is lots hopefully going in our favour !

Going to get the vitamins for both of us and try to get in contact with my doctor

It took us 15 months to get pregnant with our 1st, and all the time I was like "what's wrong with me, am I timing it wrong, am I infertile??!!!"
My husband quit caffeine and we fell on that same month...
Don't be hard on yourself as it may not even be you!

Congratulations! This is ironically what happened to me too; got very drunk at a friends birthday (oops) and basically started crying about how we'd been trying to get pregnant for 6 months and it still hadn't happened... and I was already pregnant! (just too early to know/test)
IsabelHerna · 06/10/2021 10:02
