High Pi readings

Hi all

Just hoping for some reassurance.
Had an extra scan because growth had jumped
Turns out growth is totally fine but I had raised pi’s
This happened in my last pregnancy and it stopped at 36 weeks and I was allowed to go to term.

This time when they scanned I had a little extra water and the raised pi was 1.33
They immediately started saying section at 37.

I don’t really know why I’m posting. I’m just deflated. My baby is an absolute wriggler, so much so that sometimes it looks
Like my tummy is having a spasm.

My biggest worry is I know when I got pregnant they think I’m 32 plus 3 but based on my dates (we only tried once) we would actually be 30 weeks. So I’m scared if they section me at 37 there would be a way higher risk of an nicu stay

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi did you hear anything back?
I had this today for growth and PI was high what does it actually mean is it something to worry about

Changingtides1234 · 10/12/2021 04:45

Yes I had just the one off high readings
But I had a prelonged high reading with DS1
it’s the pressure on the blood flow through umbilical cord

It could suggest a smaller baby
High reading could be baby leaning on umbilical cord
They will monitor and as long as baby is growing all is fine x

Could anything bad happen to baby? I’m 26 weeks and baby weighs 2 pound 2 x

Not to my knowledge
There is some studies suggesting that it’ s an indicator of placental failure- however this is more with gestational diabetes

I’ve had this twice both babies fit and healthy
My friend also had it also had a fit an healthy baby
My opinion is this is something of nothing

If baby leans on placenta you will get a high reading
If you’re smaller everything is more squished thus higher reading

They will monitor by scanning more often. Don’t worry :) I know it’s hard- I stressed so bad with both but honestly it’s fine
