Hi! Husband wants to take me for a weekend away shorthaul to Amsterdam when I will be 30-31 weeks,

I've noticed some airlines require fit to fly after 28 weeks. Have others travelled this late on in pregnancy? would really like to get in final weekend away the two of us. thanks!

I know many women do travel late in pregnancy, I was one but I will always advise against it after I end up having my baby at 28 weeks in Italy.

If you do travel you need to make sure the airline will carry you, that you have travel insurance that covers you that late In pregnancy
Take your mat notes with you and know where the nearest hospital is if anything where to happen xx

Some airlines will, some won't: but be aware lots of insurers won't as well and you 100% need to make sure you have insurance that covers you AND the baby should you go into premature labour. I ended up going deep in the fine print last time, after I heard a horror story of someone who ended up having their baby early and spending three months in the NICU of the hospital they were on a mini break. It was not at all obvious from the websites.

I travelled at 28 weeks last pregnancy, on the one hand it was lovely but actually I ended up randomly developing DVT symptoms while there and having to navigate a different health system to get checked out and have a scan: they wouldn't see me in anything other than a specialist maternity hospital because I was pregnant, having gone to one A&E, but then obviously I didn't have notes etc... it was all fine but not sure I'd be in a rush to do it a second time!

I did with Dd3 and airline required a letter which I had to arrange and pay for and no one even looked at!!

I should of just lied if asked and said 27 weeks not 32 or whatever I was.

I am away in Europe. Travelled at 30 weeks and will head back the last day of my 31st week as I could only get insured for standard labour until 8 weeks before birth (Admiral).
Needed a fit-to-fly letter with Ryan Air which my GP was happy to provide. Midwife was also supportive. Ryan Air has a template on their website. No one asked to see it when I boarded though!

I also found mamatob.co.uk/ which is a specialist pregnancy insurer which covers 4 weeks until before due date.

Trip has been good so far but it's been a lazy beach holiday. I potentially would have found a short city break too tiring.

You could also get the Eurostar to Amsterdam if you didn't want to fly
