Prenatal multivitamins. Which is the best natural?

I'm not big on taking a lot of pills. The naturopath at the shop recommended something which I ended up purchasing but came home to see the Vitamin A and not for pregnancy warning, which was disappointing.
Wondering if anyone has a liquid supplement they loved or a multivitamin? Please let me know which.

All that's recommended is folic acid 400mcg and vitamin D. If you don't want to take pills etc then boots do a small combined pill with those two in. If you're feeling well and able to eat a variety of food you don't have to worry about anything else. The naturpath obviously didn't know about the vitamin A so probably best avoided for advice in future

If vitamin A is in the form of beta carotene, it's perfectly safe in pregnancy. Your body makes what vitamin A it needs from the beta carotene and excretes the rest. Vitamin A from animal sources (eg liver) is what needs to be avoided.

If it came from a naturopath, I'd probably trust it. Check that it has been made from whole food sources and is as natural as possible.

Personally, I take cytoplan pregna-plan multivitamins (these contain vitamin A in the form of beta carotene) and bare biology fish oil (mercury free and not made from cod liver) I also take obtibac probiotics for gut health. It's costly, but I'm happy that I'm getting good quality supplements

Sorry, just re-read your post and the naturopath gave you something that said not recommended for pregnancy?! That's disgraceful! They should know better!

I take methylfolate which is the natural form of folic acid (which is synthetic and apparently some people don’t absorb it well) and vitamin d.

I do also take b12 and omega 3. It’s a bit of a faff taking them all separately but I really wanted to take methylfolate and it’s not in any pregnancy multivitamins I’ve seen.

If you want to take just one pill, you could take pregnacare or any generic pregnancy one which will be cheaper.

Cytoplan has methylfolate in it, not folic acid. I did my research (plus I had already done courses on fertility, digestive health and health) so I knew that I was getting all that I needed in it's best form.

I eat a pretty good diet (although I must admit that the snacking on sweets has increased as the pregnancy has progressed) but I know that the supplements that I take can cover any nutritional shortfalls

Thank you for all the responses. I thought it was worrying she gave me something that explicitly said not recommended for pregnant women.
I returned the item and didn't get a replacement. I have some vitamins to last me for a while. I will order something online which I liked and will wait for it to arrive. :)
I have a multivitamin but also have some vitamins i can take individually. I alternate.

Hi, I am taking pregnaplan too but just noticed it has a very high amount of vitamin b12, 4000%! Will that be safe for the baby?

Pp mentioned cytoplan- I think they're fantastic
. I used to take cyto gold before pregnancy and I felt great. Sadly I have hyperemesis and the tablets are quite big and you have to take 2 per day of the pregnancy ones. But if you can manage I'd highly recommend them

Have you been taking pregnaplan too? I just noticed that the amount of B12 is exceedingly high (4000% of daily intake) so I was a bit scared. I have been taking it for 3 weeks already and I'm now 9 weeks.

Pregnaplan is fine to take, it's what I told midwives I'm on. It's the most popular pregnancy vit so really you don't need to worry.
