Has anyone had the pfizer vaccine in the 1st trimester of pregnancy? This will be my 1st jab. Should I take it in 1st trimester? Is it risky? Im in a part of the world where the roll out has been super slow.

I had my 2nd pfizer jab when I was 7 weeks pregnant, all good.

I had my first a few days before ovulating, second one was 3 weeks later (so 5 weeks pregnant). I'm 38 weeks now and it's been such a great peace of mind to have the protection throughout my entire pregnancy.

Haven't and personally wouldn't have it myself while pregnant. It's a personal choice and I felt it was the right choice for me.

I had first pfizer at 13 weeks and all ok.

I had my first Pfizer jab the cycle before conceiving, and then my second job at about 7 weeks with no side effects other than a sore arm. I'm now 18 weeks with a wriggly little baby. I know several other people in a very similar situation who are all OK and everything is going well. When I was weighing everything up about getting my second jab, I thought about the fact that we have absolutely no evidence that the Pfizer vaccine can cause any problems in pregnancy, and in my previous pregnancy I had other non-live vaccines as recommended with no problems, and would do so again in this pregnancy. I also looked into the risks of catching Covid in pregnancy, and the fact that Covid is reported to increase your risk of stillbirth by 50% really helped me make my mind up.

A few weeks ago someone I know who had decided not to get vaccinated in pregnancy caught Covid at 28 weeks and ended up having an emergency c-section and then being put on a ventilator. Luckily both mum and baby are doing well, but it could have been such a different outcome. I felt so relieved after this incident that I've had my vaccine and will therefore hopefully have some protection if I catch Covid and hopefully my baby will have some antibodies when they are born to protect them too.

I had my first Pfizer 3 weeks before I got pregnant, and the second at 7 + 4, had my dating scan today and all looks normal and healthy. Also didn't notice any side effects from the second jab (I was worried about fever) just my normal nauseau and fatigue

I got the two Pfizer vaccine doses shortly before conceiving, and will be getting the booster as soon as I can (in second trimester now). Looking at the cases and available data, it's much safer to get the vaccines than to risk catching COVID while pregnant and unvaccinated.

I had the Pfizer vaccine at 11 weeks and 19 weeks. Really glad I did, it gave me a lot of peace of mind.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I am booked in for a jab appointment now.
I am not anti-vaccination but have only been hesitant as it is a new vaccine. I do think that getting covid whilst pregnant could be much worse, which is why I am booked in.
I am a little concerned that we usually are told not to get vaccinated in 1st trimester but it is promising to know that everything has been going well for all of you. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the advice

I waited until my 2nd trimester to start the course. In retrospect this was a mistake and I wish I’d just had it done when I was first eligible (around 5 weeks). The anxiety of being unvaccinated whilst pregnant was unreal especially as cases were rising whilst we were unlocking. And this is coming from someone who had never been worried about Covid before and has had to go about as normal from the beginning due to my job.

I got Moderna and all was fine and I feel so much better now being fully vaccinated. My GP and midwife thought I shouldn’t wait and I should have listened to them!

Good luck (although you don’t need it) and all the best to you!

sheusesmagazines thank you so much! I got my first jab. I'm ok. Feel a bit of anxiety but I don't know what that is related to.
I hope everything goes well with this pregnancy too.

Well done for getting your first jab. Remember the immunity doesn't even start building until 2 or 3 weeks after jab number 1 so you still need to be careful who you are mixing with indoors, avoiding crowded places indoors and careful hand washing etc.
I had my jabs at 5 weeks and 13 weeks and feel so grateful to have more protection, I know it will keep me out of the ICU if I do catch covid!

Fagin99 · 25/09/2021 12:08

Yes I had my second dose at three weeks' pregnant (but didn't know I was pregnant). Just had 12 week scan and everything is fine :-). Every doctor and midwife I have spoken to is pleased that I had it. The risk of covid is so, so much worse. Good luck! X

Jellybeans20 · 25/09/2021 12:45

SouthwestSis Thank you for the info about when the immunity kicks in. They tell us to get 2nd dose pfizer 3 weeks after the 1st pfizer dose. Should I perhaps wait 5 or 6 weeks between the 2?
Or should I just do it in 3 weeks and hope that there is a booster later on in the pregnancy? By the way, congratulations and all the best with your pregmancy.

Fagin99 No way. Wouldn't want to get covid whilst pregnant. I've seen too many videos of mums that caught covid being worried for their unborn child or their existing children. Some didn't make it. Enjoy your pregnancy and good luck.
