Should I contact the midwife?

Hi all, 20+4 with second baby. I'm at higher risk of preeclampsia due to high bmi and that it's been 10 years since last pregnancy. Not sure if I'm worrying unnecessarily because I know I'm high risk..

I get a lot of headaches usually, though there was a massive reduction is frequency during first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Since then they've increased again. I've had a headache since yesterday morning, continued throughout the night where I woke a few times and could still feel it and woke up with it still this morning. It's been worse this afternoon/evening though it does seemed to have eased a bit now after applying heat and resting. I took my blood pressure about an hour ago and it was 144/76. I intend to check it again a bit later and see how it is then. I had no concerns during first pregnancy so not really sure when to be concerned/contact midwife..? They checked my blood pressure and urine at my last midwife appointment which was around 16 weeks - urine was fine and blood pressure was 122/something (don't think it was a concerning number but can't remember what it was!), so only just over normal. Pre pregnancy my blood pressure was always normal. I need to ring the midwife tomorrow anyway to make my next appointment, I guess I'm just wondering if it's okay to wait until then to tell them or if I should be more concerned? Thanks for any advice

Hi, yes but no need to go in in the night. Take some paracetamol & rest. Call in the morning and you can attend the assessment unit for a bp check :)

You sound like my daughter, are you??

I would contact the midwife or MAU tomorrow. I was checking my blood pressure at home as I had huge gaps between midwife appointments due to covid and was told off because apparently the blood pressure machines you use at home are not calibrated for pregnant women.

Sorry I don't believe so @Mum2jenny my mum doesn't have any children called Jenny 😊

Thanks for responses, I'll make sure to mention it to the midwife tomorrow 👍 when I checked bp again it had decreased a fair bit so that's good. @Putthekettleon2021 do you know how they should be different for pregnant women? I had googled whether pregnant women had a different range of normal bp than people who aren't pregnant but the top end of normal appeared to be the same for both pregnant and not.

Hello lovely. I think I’ve had a higher than normal BP this pregnancy. My last one was 8 years ago and this time I have gestational diabetes and a higher bmi. Midwife came out to me yesterday and my BP was 170/90 I think that way around🙁
It did come down, I can’t remember what to but it’s written in my book. She’s asked me to go into clinic on Saturday to have it re-checked.
I think pregnant women do have a bit of a higher BP generally but anything too high will definitely warrant monitering closelyFlowers

Thanks @MrsGxx 😊 hope all is well for you and baby

@hullaballoo19 I have no idea, just got a very stern telling off for checking at home. Blush Although, in my defense I hadn't seen a midwife in person for 8 weeks. It was on the higher side, so definitely worth getting checked out either way.
Hope all is well! Flowers
