Hi All

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant
I have been receiving weekly scans due to my baby being small

I had a scan today and she is currently predicted to weigh around 3lb 6oz at the moment.

They are going to induce me at around 37 weeks.

All doppler scans have been fine, there is nothing that they can see is wrong, brain activity fine, cord and placenta is fine and the water around baby is fine
My older kids were not overly large My daughter at full term was 6lb 7 and my son 39+5 was 6lb 10

I am not a large lady, I was 8st 12 and a size 8 when I fell pregnant
I am 36 and have gestational diabetes which is managed well
My worry is if she is born at 37 weeks she is going to be tiny.

I am seeing a foetal doctor next Wednesday for a further scan, I saw one around 4 weeks ago who again could not find any issues.

Please tell me someone else has been through similar purely to put my mind at rest!

Thanks in advance

Bless you, that’s a worry for you. The only thing I would say is that scans can be quite inaccurate! I was sent for a growth scan at 39 weeks due to my baby measuring small. I delivered at 40+4 to an 8lb12oz baby!!

Please don't worry. Firstly, growth scans are very hit and miss. Secondly, my DS was born at 35 weeks weighing 4lb 14oz. He's now a very happy and healthy one year old. All will be well!

Is she still growing? If she is and everything looks fine then why would they induce?

I'm in a very similar boat, coming up 37 weeks with my second SGA baby although they are estimating a bit heavier than yours, we are dancing along the 10th centile line.
Mine have said that if we carry in folowing the line they'll push back induction to 39 weeks, which I find a whole lot more attractive as an idea! Maybe worth seeing if that's an option for you too? If we dip in growth we're in straight away but plodding along our own little line is ok apparently.

4 babies all tiny 5lbs and under and born at different gestational. My tiniest was dc3 at 4lbs 10oz at 39+weeks and on the 0.2 centile. 3 of the pregnancies were with GD and that one I was diagnosed at 38 weeks. We had to spend a week in neonatal and a few days in transitional care but she was fine jaundice, and feeding issues. She has just started school, healthy and no issues at all. All her siblings were tiny and all healthy, fine and no issues and other than being skinny and very tall. The only issue was feeding as due to their size they had very little and often and required a lot of jostling to feed. I ended up expressing colostrum prior to birth and syringe feeding initially and expressing and combi feeding.
