Whats the definitive answer? Do I have to wash all new baby bedding and blankets before they are used?

I have just packed my hospital bag and then as an afterthought realised the babygros I have put in are brand new.

Flier · 05/12/2007 17:39

you don't HAVE to, but I did/would

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/12/2007 17:40

I would.

Yes, definitely, in non-bio powder. You probably don't absolutely have to but the mw on our antenatal course said we should to be on the safe side.

why?

MrsFlora · 05/12/2007 17:43

well, my mum worked in a factory for baby clothing ... the amounth of dust, sprays, etc in the air get to the clothers which then get stored in a plastic bag. The next thing you do is you open it in the nursery and don't get aired directly to your baby skin. I know what i would do!

Bugger! I should have remember this with number 3!

I have left tags on most things in case baby is big/small or I have too much etc

Might just wash a selection but then that leaves more to do after the birth hmmmmm

GGGGlimpopo - how are you feeling? How long for you now? Im due on boxing day, is that the same as you?

I did.
Felt better, but wasn't sure if I was being neurotic.
Things often feel softer once you have washed them - nicer for the baby.

MrsFlora · 05/12/2007 17:46

what i think it's also importnat to wash well are muslims cloths. They absorb much better and they also have crap chemichals used when they get ironed.

Niecie · 05/12/2007 17:47

Definitely the dust, get rid of the packaging smell and make them a bit softer. Things straight out of the packet can be a bit starched and stiff.
