33 weeks and pain in cervix regularly

I'm wondering if this is just lightning crotch, or something else? It feels a lot like the knitting needle up the vagina feeling but it comes and goes.

I also had a spell of painful contractions last week, but they only lasted about an hour and went away.

This baby is very very low down compared to how I carried before (went to 42 weeks) so I just have a feeling he'll be early.

I'm wondering if the aches and pains are due to cervix being a bit open already?

Any advice / experience of similar v much welcome!

It sounds to me like baby's head engaging. I'm not an expert though!
Don't assume that if I'm correct you'll be going into labour anytime soon though! The often pop in and out at this gestation! Good luck!

@CanIHaveAHolidayPlease Thanks for replying! Did wonder if it was that because the big hard kicks are lower than where they were before.

I find that unless they are rhythmic pains then call the midwife but everything tends to go through phases of pain / discomfort at this stage 🙄 not long to go now!

Sounds like "lightening crotch" to me. Very common from this point in pregnancy. Basically baby trying to get into position and hitting their head on a nerve.

Lightning crotch is very polite - most people I've seen online talking about this refer to them as "fanny daggers" Grin

They are totally normal (and a good sign that the head might be getting into position) but really unpleasant from what I remember!
