Statutory sick pay & statutory maternity pay

I’m currently on statutory sick pay, and it seems that I will be during my qualifying period for statutory maternity pay so according to the calculator I won’t make enough money to claim maternity pay? Has anyone had this before 😭I’m so stressed.. I’m on sick due to my pregnancy if that makes a difference, thank you x

Will you be off during the full 8 weeks where they calculate your maternity pay?

You could claim maternity allowance instead

Claim maternity allowance

Secondtimemamma · 19/09/2021 12:02

@dementedpixie currently been off for 3/8 of the qualifying weeks and I’m just not well enough to go back

@RoseGoldGlasses

I’ve looked at maternity allowance but it’s confusing me 😂🙈

Thanks ladies x

Basically with MA you'd be able to submit the 13 weeks worth of payslips where you earned the most and then you'd get a set amount each each week (£152ish). You'd just not have 6 weeks at 90% that you'd get with SMP.

(For MA you need to have worked 26 weeks out of the 66 weeks before birth and in 13 of those weeks need to have earned at least £30 in each of them)

@dementedpixie thank you so much! That’s a real relief that I’ll still be able to get something! Thank you so much x

You’ll get £152 a week or 90% of your average weekly earnings; whatever is lower - so it’ll depend on what you’re being paid.

It’ll start automatically at 36 weeks if you’re still off sick then; too, I believe.

I think you need to apply for maternity pay from work and then include the reasons for rejection in your MA application, which you can send in after 26 weeks.

Work would give you an SMP1 form letting you know you don't qualify for SMP and that lets you apply for MA

@TakeYourFinalPosition @dementedpixie thank you ladies!

Seems like I was stressing for no reason 🙈😂 x
