I’m such a failure 😞! Literally 25+1 was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 11 weeks & im just not looking after it!
I try but I’ve had such a bad pregnancy, bed ridden and all I crave is carbs! I caved and I’ve eaten loads of pizza this evening😞😢!
I have a crazy sweet tooth and I’m eating things that are quick because I literally feel too bad to cook! I’ve probably caused damage haven’t I?

Are you getting any support from a GD midwife or team? I think you need to discuss this with them.

It's tough but keeping your blood sugars under control will help you and baby, so it's worth doing Flowers

Nuts
Peanut m and ms or peanut butter to stave off sweet pangs
Slimmers world stategy - so massive meat or fish with unlimited mushrooms, spinach etc
Avocado
Plain yoghurt with cinammon
Omelettes
Watermelon (you look at the glycaemic index)
You sound like me
My son was not huge but was bigger than my other two and his bloods needed stabilising that week with top-up formula in hospital (I breastfed the rest of the time). He was quite sleepy that week.
I did not need to inject insulin and did enough, but I could have done more. I also splurged with pizza hut twice.
Start again tomorrow and write down all the things you can have.
Almonds as in-between snacks.

If you were diagnosed GD at 11 weeks it’s more than likely you’re actually type 2 (or 1) and have gone undiagnosed. Has anyone discussed that with you?

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes because I met the criteria for testing early that is what I was told.

I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes. It is not fun. It was very stressful esp with a unsupportive husband. I did create a menu of food and tested after to measure blood sugar level and it was ok. I didn't get to indulge at all in cravings such as ice cream or even fruits, but it all ended well.

I couldn't eat bread, rice, potatoes, any carbs; any sugar, it was a very narrow food group to keep it at bay so I stayed healthy

I was diagnosed with GD really late into my pregnancy (around 36 weeks) as they don't do the GD testing in my area unless your bmi is higher than average.

Anyway, I had a really bad diet, I ate tons of sugary products and 'do nots' and when I found out I had GD I did try and eat better, I googled GD meal plans etc but it was hard, so I still ate the same things just less.

My baby was born at 38 weeks weighing a healthy weight and perfectly healthy. I wouldn't stress too much if you have a bad day!!

I was diagnosed at 12 weeks and totally agree it's a really hard slog but you can definitely do this. Think of the food you are eating as medicine for your baby. I know it's hard. There is an amazing website and Facebook group Gestational Diabetes Uk it really saved me when I was pregnant. My little boy is 8 months old now and I still make loads of the recipes from there the brownies are so good. I have had my HBA1C test at 3 months after birth and that came back well within the normal range. I also had many people saying to me I must have had T1/T2 undiagnosed because I got diagnosed so early but that simply isn't the case it is purely hormonal with gestational diabetes but you do have to be well controlled whilst pregnant and afterwards to limit the possibility of developing diabetes for yourself and your baby in the future. Good luck x

High fat, high protein.
Low carbs, low sugar.
I had GD, had to use insulin after just one week. It sucks, but its possible. I'll be forever grateful I don't have type 1. Those who do absolutely rock!
Sweet treats- frozen cherries were my favourite. I couldn't have many, but they were great.
Cheese, cheese and more cheese. Eggs and meat if you eat them.
Full fat Greek yogurt.
Lots of veg.

There is a group on Facebook called Gestational Diabetes UK. I'd really recommend joining it. Loads of understanding and support and also great resources. In particular they have loads of recipes - including stuff for a sweet tooth. Honestly don't know how I would have coped without this group during my pregnancy.

Just realised @pinklillie also recommended the same group before me
