Hard decision 🤦🏼‍♀️-Covid last week of pregnancy

Well this was a difficult decision and I feel awful for it.
I have took my kids out of school from 39 weeks, as I don’t want Covid when giving birth. Have been double vaccinated but that doesn't stop me catching it. Tbh I wouldn’t of made that decision if the government had said we no longer have to self isolate house holds (parents have tested positive primary kids have no symptom so need to test them).
Has been put down unauthorised at one school another is fine and sending work.
Gutted I had too. Hoping maybe other parents that feel the same.

I don’t blame you one bit! I’m going in for my c section on Monday and I’ve been so so nervous this week trying to make sure we’re organised, but also ‘isolating’ as much as possible!

Thetrainisinthestation · 17/09/2021 12:01

I wouldn’t blame you for doing this either

ThatScottishLass · 17/09/2021 12:02

Don’t blame you and feel the first school is being utterly unreasonable

Tinydancer321 · 17/09/2021 12:02

Thank you. The head was nice but upset it was classed as unauthorised and wouldn’t send work (how ironic after last year). But baby comes first. We have had a traumatic year Covid at birth sounds awful.

I did this with my two but at the time they were a bit more lenient about absences. I think you’ve made the right choice!

TeenTitan007 · 17/09/2021 12:53

Seems like a sensible decision. Nothing to get upset about. Lives and health and a smooth birth are way more important that a few days of school.

Samafe · 17/09/2021 12:56

I will also do the same for the last 2 weeks - but DS is going to nursery therefore no need of justification. Flowers

Bennetgirl · 17/09/2021 13:20

I’m 32 weeks and my baby is due just after half term (when pcrs will be gone for travel😩)

I’ll be doing the same. I think we’ll have had it by then though. It’s absolutely rife in our schools.

You definitely made the right choice. I wouldn’t care about non authorised, they certainly won’t fine you x

Makes sense to me

I'm due a c-sec next week. DC is staying in school. I am only single vaccinated but I think it's important that he has some routine and normality as having a sibling is a big enough upheaval in itself but you have to do what's right for you. Good luck with everything Flowers

Don't blame you at all!

I'm going to do the same - my son is at nursery rather than school but I am going to keep him off the week pre c-section

Basically going to isolate for a week beforehand, I don't think there is any point risking my husband not being able to be with me

I had endo surgery last year and was told to isolate beforehand for 5 days so I did, no issues - if I can do it for that then I can do it for this :)

Tinydancer321 · 17/09/2021 15:51

Thank you, really appreciate I’m not on my own. It’s hard working having them all home 😂🤦🏼‍♀️. Bet I go 2 weeks over due lol
