I am nauseous all day from the moment I open My eyes until I go to sleep it is a constant mental fight not to be sick. I am sick once a day until nothing else is left so about 5 - 6 times usually around 4pm but usually not again.
Is this HG would you say or normal

I had this in my last pregnancy and have it again now. I'm never sick 'on my own' but need to make myself sick to get even a tiny bit of relief.

In my last pregnancy, I was signed off with HG. Eventhough I was not continuously vomiting. It's not what the guidelines describe HG as, but nonetheless, I was signed off by several doctors for about 3 months. Lots of people will probably tell you that it's NOT HG, but the doctors might disagree.

I think it's not HG from a strictly medical perspective because you are not in danger of starving and dehydrating, as you are able to retain food and fluids. (The HG 'boundary' is often whether or not you have been admitted for rehydration.) It is absolutely awful though I have had severe HG twice, and am pregnant again, and although it's the vomiting that is dangerous from a medical perspective, the nausea is worse psychologically. I think you should def see a GP and ask for some medication to see if anything gives you some relief from the nausea. Unfortunately in my experience most of the drugs are better at preventing vomiting than easing nausea but it would still be worth a try. Also, I know a few women who've been signed off in this situation little or even no vomiting but relentless unbearable nausea.

How far along are you? And are you able to eat and drink OK? There's a very friendly HG support thread you could join.

Yes like me. I was signed off with HG, even though it was ' just ' severe nausea. You're also absolutely right, none of the medications touched it whatsoever.

I found all the GPs I saw more than understanding and they never made me feel like what I was suffering from was somehow ' less than '. They were very supportive.

I hope you find some relief soon OP. Definitely speak to your GP.

I did a lot of reading on HG when I first started to be ill, because whilst I was more dehydrated than usual I was still keeping some things down and didn’t need rehydration, and I’d only lost a pound or so before I started medication as if I ate slowly immediately after vomiting I could keep some food down. As so many people are only diagnosed on hospital, @kalidasa’s explanation is often the benchmark, but having spoken to friends who work in medicine they assure me that whilst severe HG might end up there they code at different levels (mild, moderate and severe) - none of which are normal and all of which are debilitation (albeit severe is obviously particularly dangerous). That helped me to feel like less of a fraud, and less of a moaner for not being hospitalised, and my doctor diagnosed HG - it might help you to look at the PUQE scale, which is a guide on severity of NVP.

I’m 13 weeks now and although I’m still being sick, sometimes a lot, and once I’m sick I’m sick violently over and over as you describe, I am with the help of medication having a few better days - this has made me look back and wonder wtf I was doing worrying that I was moaning just because I had a headache and barely went for a wee (but did go, and it was darker than usual but not dark). A few weeks ago, I napped on the sofa most days and could barely move the nausea was so bad, and I’d be sick so hard that I’d lose control of my bladder; that is never going to be normal.

It’d help if I could type wouldn’t it!

I also think normal nausea seems to let off after the 12ish week mark and is not as deliberating. I was nauseous until my baby was born and sick every day until then.
