Covid vaccine booster for NHS staff

Hiya,

Just wondering if anyone here is due a covid vaccine booster after already having both vaccines. Currently 19/40. I am NHS (a trainer) and don't see patients (at the moment due to pregnancy, but will after maternity leave) but have a lot of contact with staff all over the Trust, and lots are working directly with covid patients.
Anyone else here in a position where they've been offered booster? I know Pfizer is safe and if it were my first I'd definitely get it. I had my second Pfizer jab in March which means by the time a give birth in February it'll be almost a year since second jab and we know efficacy drops over time...

Our chief pharmacist has said pregnant staff will be offered the vaccine - either Pfizer or moderna. I'm 21 weeks (and healthcare clinician) and will be having it.

@L1ttleb1t grand. Thanks for response. I will be getting it too.

The soonest you can have the booster is 6 months after your last jab and our trust is starting to offer staff boosters at the end of next week.
I'm happy to let the staff working directly with covid patients go first

Hi @thingymaboob. I'm in NI so not sure when our booster programme will be starting. Will take the booster. I'm nearly 8 weeks pregnant. Can I ask are you not allowed to work with patients directly due to Covid? Just wondering as I've heard that well no longer be moved to non patient facing if pregnant

thingymaboob · 16/09/2021 19:18

It should all be done on individual risk assessment. RCOG, royal college midwives, HSE and GOV still recommend being very cautious from 28 weeks if no underlying condition or at any point in gestation if affected by a pre pregnancy comorbidity. Everyone in our Trust is moving from patient facing at 28 weeks. I moved earlier because I have Asthma which is managed by respiratory team.

Absolutely. I think my Trust will do that anyway.

@thingymaboob ah I am immunosuppressed. Was kind of hoping I'll not have to go off too early. But I know I need to keep myself and baby safe. Will send occ health referral.

I did an antibodies test today. Got picked at random to do it. Will be interested to see do I have any. Had covid in December and my last vaccine in March.

I have received my invite to get the booster. Has anyone else? I'm 20 weeks pregnant and had two Pfizer right at beginning of year. Anyone else getting the booster?

I’ve not had an invite yet, but I think our booster program starts next week. I’m 21 weeks and I’m intending to get the booster as soon as I can!

I got my flu jab earlier this week, I felt awful after it, but better than getting full out later!

StillUpholding · 23/09/2021 16:46

I haven’t had my invitation yet but expect it in the next few weeks. I’m currently 25 weeks. Spoke about it with my midwife yesterday and I’m going to get it.

thingymaboob · 23/09/2021 16:50

Yes I've booked mine too.

bluepixie · 23/09/2021 17:21

I’ve been invited for mine. 20 weeks preg atm and patient facing. I’m going to get my flu one first next week and then get covid booster 2 weeks later.
Please all update how u were post booster!

My trust policy is to work from home after 28 weeks regardless of underlying health.

Scirocco · 23/09/2021 18:18

I'll be getting mine in a few weeks, as soon as the 6-month gap between last dose and the booster is reached. I'm 19 weeks and frontline patient-facing, so there's no way I'd risk not getting it!

AliceS1994 · 23/09/2021 18:36

I had mine, I'm 15 weeks and a patient-facing nurse (in our trust pregnant people can work until 40 weeks with no restrictions provided they have had the vaccine) so I was practically first in line- no way I would risk it!

thingymaboob · 23/09/2021 18:58

@AliceS1994 I just think it's madness that you can work until 40 weeks patient facing. I know the vaccine gives us a lot of protection but we will still be immunosuppressed. I'd be very nervous!

I'm healthcare worker in Ireland, I got my second jab in January so it's been 8 months now. We're not doing boosters yet but I'd get it if we were, in the hope of passing on some extra antibodies to baby moreso than concerns for myself to be honest. We don't work in patient facing roles while pregnant here though so I've been on leave for the majority of my pregnancy.
