Probably overthinking but is this pain normal?

Hi everyone

I’m current 4/5 weeks pregnant with my first. NHS calculator has me at 5 weeks, but I have long cycles so think it’s more likely to be 4.

I woke up yesterday morning with a sort of stitch-like feeling on my lower left hand side, sort of just below hip height that feels a lot like trapped wind. This may be TMI sorry, but I didn’t go to the toilet yesterday, but did this morning.

I haven’t felt the feeling all day today. But I have just started feeling it again this evening. Pain is probably not the right word, it’s about a 2/10 on the pain scale but it’s a bit uncomfortable?

Is this completely normal & did anybody else experience this, as googling brings up all sorts of horror stories about ectopic pregnancies.

Hi op,
Sorry but I don't really have any advice. Saw that no one had responded so didn't want to ignore your post.
I'm 18 weeks now and I honestly had so many aches, pains and different sensations in those first few weeks that I can't remember exactly.
Maybe keep an eye on it and if it's only one side and persistant it might be worth calling your epu.

Pregnancy is full of strange aches and pains. It's likely to just be the normal effects of your ligaments beginning to loosen or a bit of digestive discomfort as it slows down but keep an eye on it just in case and if it gets worse then get it checked.

Hey, your body does strange things when your pregnant but if you have any worries....no matter how small, call the mid wife and ask. That's what they are there for xx

I had the same a when I was around 6 weeks. Had a scan everything was normal. Was just changes in the body. Get it checked to put your mind at ease x

Sorry to scare you, but this does sound like the pain I was getting with an ectopic. I had similar pain with a later pregnancy and it was a cyst.

A cyst is normal, but an ectopic is life threatening. Please get checked.

I had cramps for weeks after my BFP. I would say normal unless really painful or accompanied by bleeding. But don’t hesitate to get checked out if you’re worried!!

I had loads of weird pains throughout my pregnancy but have to say the first trimester is when it’s most worrying as it’s so early and you don’t know what’s going on in there.

It could be your uterus stretching to accommodate baby and be totally normal which it most likely is. As others have said though if severe pain do get checked x

Thank you everybody, I’ve woken up this morning again and the pain isn’t there so I think this is probably a normal pregnancy related pain. In fact, I think I have the same sensation veeeeeery slightly on the other side, so unlikely an ectopic.

I’m booked in for an early scan next week anyway, so will try not to worry too much until then.
