So covid has arrived at my house. I've had both doses of AZ. Generally feeling like I have a really heavy cold so it's not unmanageable.
This pregnancy has been quite difficult itself due to ongoing hyperemesis.
I'm wondering though if anyone else has been in a similar situation if they had any extra checks/scans. Google doesn't seem much help with how/if it'll affect my pregnancy and understandably I'm worried. My midwife hasn't said much about it

Sorry to hear this OP but at least you are more protected having had 2 jabs.
You don't need any extra scans or checks but try and keep active as much as you can manage (obviously within your house or garden if you have one), eat little and often, plenty of fluids,
And contact your GP or NHS111 if you become short of breath or develop chest pain and they can make arrangements to get you assessed.
I'm sorry to say it usually gets worse before it gets better so be gentle on yourself and call in favours from friends and family to deliver you some nice treats or things to keep you occupied whilst you isolate.

Staying hydrated is really important but understand how hard that is with Hyperemesis. I'd probably up the anti sickness medications (if you take them) so you're covered in case you start vomiting and you can take on a lot of fluid. Aim for 2-3 litres a day. Good luck and keep us posted

Thankyou for your responses. Thankfully my hg symptoms aren't being made any worse by it so I'm feeling rather 'lucky'

Nope I had it at 37 weeks and they did nothing different at all.

Just had a call to say my midwife has arranged a scan for me 🙂

I'm so happy they've arranged a scan for you. It is important to track movements when you test positive for Covid as it has been shown in US and Irish studies to increase the risk of stillbirth although that is for unvaccinated women.

Reports for vaccinated women are very encouraging in terms of outcome.

Overall there are cases of women who have reported reduced movement and the babies have been saved in time so as hard as it is to hear, I thought I'd share. It seems to be that in all reported cases movements decrease progressively so there is time to react.

It's such a relief to be getting the extra scan.
So far his movements have been as constant as usual so hopefully he's going to be quite happy in there

I’m recovering after contracting it at 36 weeks. I’m now 38 weeks. It’s been pretty horrendous to be honest, altho im unvaccinated. Both my husband and son tested positive. Husband has come away pretty unscathed - mild cold symptoms at worst. So hopefully you will be the same.
No extra scans, but midwives called every 2 days to check in on symptoms and baby.
I’ve had an unrelated scan today and baby is doing just fine. It’s taken 2 weeks but I am feeling a little more human now. Just trying to build up some energy to actually have her now!

im just back at work today after my isolation im 25 weeks, ive had one vaccine. I felt pretty rotten but baby was moving and seemed fine it was just me that felt like death. Currently not sleeping due to the cough its left me with i feel the baby is going to fall out when i cough! Also forcing myself to eat at the moment not sure if its because i still have no taste or smell. I did call maternity assessment on probably what i would say was my worst day i couldn't turn around in bed without being breathless, basically they were very reassuring weren't that concerned said it was better actually this early as my lungs have more room! But told me to call them if i felt any worry's atall

PennyPinkPineapple · 13/09/2021 15:38

I had covid last year when I was 16 weeks. I spent a few days in bed (probably more first trimester related to be honest) but it was really just like a heavy cold. I've now got a very healthy 5 month old. Good luck with your scan though Smile

ScotsMumOf4 · 13/09/2021 16:15

Thankyou everyone for your responses.
I'm being sent blood thinning injections for 10 days due to an increased risk of clotting with the covid. Not liking the idea of injecting myself 😬

Oh no! I had these after my c section, they aren't as bad as they sound. It's much better if you can get someone else to do it x
toadstool32 · 14/09/2021 10:46

I'm 15+4, double jabbed and day 3 of covid. Also being sent the fragmin injections and I have a scan booked for next week. So far it's like the worst cold ever but well aware it's likely to get worse.

Ah I hope you are feeling better now. It's taken a while but I eventually feel back to normal. Scan went well with me. Those injections though 😭 horrendous having to get my 17 year old to do them.
