What happens at induction?

I know it's probably different across different hospitals, but what tends to happen at an induction? Do you go onto a ward with other women during the early stages still and then move into your own room when established or do they put you in your own room at the start of the induction process? Feel like these are questions I should have asked but aren't important enough for me to call!

When I was induced I was put onto the induction ward with 5 other women.
When I was in established labour I went into my own delivery room.

You usually start off in a induction ward with others because it's not guaranteed how long it will take.

With my induction I was moved from my initial bed (was an inpatient already) to the induction bay. It was a 4 bed bay, but there was only one other woman being induced that day. I had my pessaries and CTG monitoring there, but otherwise I was free to roam (pre-Covid). Once it was obvious that labour wasn't going to happen any time soon (plus the induction midwife was going home) I was moved back out to the main antenatal ward. Overnight, I was moved to the Delivery Suite (my own room) to move onto the next stage of induction (waters being broken) as they were not very busy. I stayed in the delivery room until I gave birth.

I was admitted on to the induction ward for gel and monitoring. I was the 2nd induction of the day and they were bringing ladies in every two hours so I'm not sure how many of us there were by the end on an eight bedded ward. My waters went that evening when I was 3cm and told I could now be moved to delivery which would be a private room, unfortunately there was no space so I had to stay on the ward for another five hours. I was 6cm by the time I was taken to delivery and my own room. This was pre-covid so I've heard they are separating woman until they've had negative covid tests at the moment.

I went in on the Thursday and had my own room, pessaries inserted every 6 hours (can't remember what they said the max was but I had 3 doses). After the third my hind waters went so I was taken down to another private room to have front waters broken and started on the drip.

Try to eat / drink beforehand because I don't think you can once you are on the drip IIRC (might be wrong)

Active labour for 24 hours then EMCS but that's a whole other story!

Back on ward with baby after EMCS x
