What are your thoughts on eating eggs for breakfast every day? I'm diabetic and so during my pregnancy find eggs a really easy food as they don't touch my blood sugar however my husband constantly says to me you shouldn't eat all them eggs every day they are bad for you.

But are they really?

Not bad for you. Perfectly fine. They did used to say no eggs back in the day but that's old fashioned advice now

Well he’s talking bollocks.

So crack on.

Literally no reason why you can't have eggs every day, pregnant or not! Boiled eggs were my favourite thing in my last pregnancy. Tell your husband to stop policing your food!

I eat them every day. Perfectly healthy food!

GD in both pregnancies here and I ate a LOT of scrambled egg (daily actually) because, like you, eggs didn’t cause my blood sugar to go up. Go for it.

Eggs are a really healthy food, especially in pregnancy. They contain protein and folate. And I would have thought it’s important for you to prevent blood sugar spikes so a nutritious food that doesn’t cause your blood sugar to spike is a win win!

Your husband is wrong.

Good source of choline which is quite the fashionable protein supplement du jour! Also the cholesterol in eggs is great for building babies brain and eye tissue. Obviously don’t have them for every meal, but once a day or 6 days a week should be fine

In the Asian culture they are known as being “garam” or “warm” foods so it’s advised you avoid eating too much in the pregnancy. I wonder if your husband is from this background and that’s why he’s saying it?

I was told to avoid eggs during the first trimester mainly. I have low blood pressure problems now so having eggs (garam food) is actually encouraged.

A couple of eggs each day are fine/healthy for most people (assuming they are British Lion stamped or well cooked so low risk of salmonella). As pp mentioned they're are one of the best sources of the choline your baby needs - I try to have 2 a day or at least every other day.

I think this is old fashioned advice as I think I remember my mum saying people used to say this! If I remember it was something to do with cholesterol but it’s out dated advice now.
