Hi, I am 15w4d and I have just had a positive covid test. I have been feeling ill all day as if I have a really bad head cold, my head is so sore all the time, my nose is completely blocked, and my mouth and throat feel really dry as well as just feeling really weak. I was wondering if anyone else has had covid at this stage in pregnancy and everything has been all right with baby as I'm a bit worried. I just had my 2nd does of the vaccine a week ago today. Thanks.

I'm 19 weeks and tested positive on Saturday. Feel much the same as you with the headache, bad cold, achiness. Paracetamol helps a lot.
I feel like the congestion is starting to ease a bit now hopefully!

I had my second vaccination in March.

Nibletmum · 07/09/2021 20:25

To add - I'm sure baby is fine. Been feeling lots of movement today. And I did see a study that's shown our antibodies that we produce do get passed on to little one so that's a bonus!

You and baby are at most risk from Covid in your third trimester. Even though you’re only a week after your second jab, you’ll still get some protection from serious illness so that’s good for both of you. Contact your midwife, they might want you to monitor yourself a bit more closely than if you weren’t pregnant or prescribe medications just as a precaution.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Oh sorry to hear you've been unlucky and caught it before your 2nd jab has really had its effect!
At least one jab is better than none though.
Take care of yourself as I know symptoms tend to get worse before they get better. Keep hydrated, move around (indoors obviously) as much as you feel able to, and don't forget to seek medical attention if you get shortness of breath or chest pain.

anniee8ava · 07/09/2021 22:50

I havent had covid thankfully but so many people are getting it who are jabbed.
I wish you a speedy recovery OP.

I think the government have made up that vaccinated people are less likely to catch covid. It obviously keeps people from developing serious illness but i know so many people post jabs who have had it.

PieMistee · 07/09/2021 22:53

So good you have been jabbed. The research is showing that it is much less likely to cause issues in pregnancy. Furthermore it is less likely to be an issue in the 2nd trimester. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

SouthwestSis · 07/09/2021 23:05

@anniee8ava that's because people who are jabbed now far outnumber people who are left unjabbed thankfully!

AmelieLovesAutumn · 07/09/2021 23:09

Yeah, it's not a tricky concept is it?!

Not to mention no one said it was 100%

@lisamxxx. Hope you & the others here are feeling better soon!

CatOfTheLand · 07/09/2021 23:42

I know two people who had it while pregnant- both were unvaccinated because this was last year - and were fine. Babies were fine too.

anniee8ava · 08/09/2021 02:26

Yes i know that. But doesnt it make you question what you are told by media/government??

Slightly off topic but Boris forcing all careworkers to be vaccinated because they are 'less likely' to pass the virus on...seems like he jumped the gun with his predictions and faith in the jab. And being a bully about forcing a vaccine on everyone.

Someone did a freedom of access request recently and found that 400 likely deaths have been reported in the last 20 years relating to all vaccines approved in the last 20 years vs 1600 deaths relating to the covis vaccine over the last 8 months. There is also a document on the government website showing government stats that 70% of people that have died of the delta varient from feb-august 2021 were from vaccinated people, far different from what the daily mail reports

Just scary how people are so brain washed into thinking this vaccine is holier than though.

SouthwestSis · 08/09/2021 06:03

I don't trust our government but I do trust our doctors and scientists.
There is clear data that the virus is less transmissible once youre vaccinated. No-one is being bullied or having a vaccine forced on them, it's just care workers who work with really vulnerable people are being asked not to put those people at unnecessary risk if they don't want the vaccine. That's fair enough, I wouldn't want to put my grandparents at extra risk.

And again the stat you quote from the government report is because the vast majority of people are now vaccinated, and no jab is 100% so sadly there will still be deaths among more vulnerable groups who've had the jab, especially with all restrictions lifted and now covid allowed to let rip. The deaths are far far lower than if most hadn't had the jab.
To make a fair comparison about deaths in vaccinated vs unvaccinated you'd want to look at rates rather than absolute numbers and see the data stratified for age and other co-morbidities.
The entire NHS is begging you to get the jab, please trust doctors and nurses if you don't trust the government!

Hi

Just looking for a bit of reassurance. I am 22weeks +6. I have just tested positive to covid with a lateral flow test (waiting for the PCR results). I’m really worried I have lost my sense of taste and smell and have a continuous cough. I have had one covid vaccine and was due to have the second this weekend, but haven’t had it due to testing positive. I’m so worried my first little boy was stillborn in January at 38weeks 😢… just hoping for some positive Stories

toadstool32 · 13/11/2021 22:17

@Bell22 I had covid at 15weeks, despite being double vaccinated. I contacted my midwife and together with the consultant they prescribed 10 days of fragmin injections as a preventative measure. I'm now 24+1 and baby is fine.

Bell22 · 13/11/2021 22:23

Thank you. Did you have many symptoms/ how long did they last? I have to wait for the PCR test to come back positive to start injections. Hoping it will be back in the morning so I can start the injections asap.

toadstool32 · 14/11/2021 06:38

@Bell22 I had a heavy cold start the day after pcr positive . Was poorly for about four days obvs only taking paracetamol. Then about two weeks later to got a post covid chest infection which I needed antibiotics for

MyKidsThrowFood · 30/11/2021 21:06

@Bell22 I am so sorry to hear about your son. This must be very stressful for you. I have 2 friends who both had covid last year before they were vaccinated - one at 4/5 weeks and one at 37 weeks. They felt pretty rubbish for a few days but both now have happy, healthy babies age 3 and 7 months. I hope that’s reassuring. How are you feeling?
