Induction of labour stories?

So I’m being induced Friday due to being over due I will be 41 + 4 weeks they said the method will be a pessary, this is my first baby. Haven’t had any signs of labour yet. How long should I expect to be in hospital for in total from the day I go into be induced. How longs the process take to get you into labour and how long does labour last firs time via induction? I know it will vary person to person but how long roughly should I expect abs is it more painful than natural labour ?

I was induced last Thursday PM using a balloon and didn't have my baby until Saturday night 😒 I tried everything to progress naturally but after laps of the hospital, bouncing on my ball and having my waters broken I was still only 4cm dilated so had to go on the hormone drip. This is when the pain ramped up. So I would say expect to be there for at least 2 nights. Hopefully the pessary gets things going for you. Good luck, I hope you have a positive birth x

There's lots and lots of threads on this and unfortunately you'll probably have plenty of time to read them if my experience is anything to go by.

Long story short went in on the Sunday for first of the pessaries, waters broken Weds night (had drip so had epidural at same time- highly recommend), baby arrived Thursday night, home Saturday afternoon.

Is there a reason for the induction? I would refuse until later on and se if you go I to labour naturally. I was 42 + 3 with my third pregnancy. Induction tends to lead to more intervention in labour and shouldn’t be automatic just because it’s the hospital’s routine. You can always go in for a scan/check to see if everything is ok.

At a guess it will be because OP is 41+4 and the evidence is that there's an increase in potential issues once you get past 41 weeks?

Believe me, I'm no fan of inductions having had one and likely to need to have another but given the choice between that and the hassle of daily monitoring (and the fact that that is only a snapshot, against a backdrop of increased risk) I'd be inclined to take the medical guidance.

I went in on the Wednesday PM with DS1 at 40+5, had one pessary, waters went at 5pm on the Thursday and gave birth 6am the Friday morning. No other inventions required thankfully!
Not bad overall looking back, as things didn’t really ramp up till 11-12pm Thursday night

Currently 33+4 with DS2 and hoping for a natural start this time!
