6 weeks + 5 and I already want this to be over. I have had constant nausea for the last week and a half only vomiting a little if anything. GP has prescribed cyclizine which I am taking 3x a day plus using gaviscon for the terrible acidic feeling I'm having but not working at all. I feel completely drained and exhausted, how on earth do you ladies keep up your full time job? I'm on the verge of calling it quits and just sleeping for the next 8 months.
Has anyone else experienced this and have some tricks on how to cope??

I had awful morning sickness from about 7 weeks, all the way through. Currently 19+5 and still taking anti-sickness, if I miss one I get sick.

If the Cyclizine isn’t working reach back out to your GP, there’s a lot of different anti sickness meds they can try you on. I started on Cyclizine and cycled through a few different ones, since about 15 weeks Cyclizine has consistently worked for me, so I take 3 of those a day.

Hope this helps, I also told my boss at 7/8 weeks because I was so poorly. Thankfully WFH at the time but he was really understanding and let me do flexible hours so I could work around being ill. X

Sorry to hear your still feeling this way looks like I may have a long road ahead of me then.
Thanks I will definitely speak to gp about trying something else and maybe talk to my boss about flexible hours however I don't think they will be understanding with the many naps I need haha.

I had zero energy at the beginning. Thankfully I was (and am) working at home. I'd struggle to get up at 7:30 (to start work at 7:30!) and by 2pm I was exhausted. By the time I got to a couple of weeks over trimester 2 I started to feel better energy wise. I'm 29 weeks tomorrow and still feel ok, but I'm definitely getting more tired again.

As for morning sickness, I felt ill until easily past 20 weeks - the first weeks were just feeling sick and then the actual being sick happened (which I have to say I preferred). If I was sick, I felt ok straight afterwards. I'm still being sick, about once a week maybe.

There is no way I could have managed if I had to go into the office (too sick); I was only able to manage because I am working at home. Being home has just meant if I need 5mins away to feel sorry for myself I can quite easily - although early on; this was also bad as I could feel sorry for myself all day where if I was at work I'd have to put on a brave face and may have perked up sooner.

@Stars23 unfortunately in my experience none of the drugs help very much with nausea (rather than vomiting). It's the vomiting that is potentially serious from a medical perspective if it gets out of hand, but it's the nausea that's the worst bit for you! There's a very supportive HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) thread on here which you might want to join for more advice. If you can't function though, it is definitely worth going back to the GP to see if they are happy to try something else instead of or alongside the cyclizine.

I had horrible “morning” sickness (aka 24/7) until 14 weeks in first pregnancy. This pregnancy it lasted till approx 18 weeks. I lost 6kg. I threw up about 3-5 times a day. Thankfully I worked from home and worked pretty much laying on the couch. I have great sympathy for you, even though you think that it will never end, it WILL end and I promise you will forget about it. I can’t help you as in my case nothing helped, all I could eat or drink was ice cold drinks and ice cold fruit

Can you get yourself signed off work for a bit? My GP was adamant that the more rest you get, the less likely you are to end up in hospital (not sure if it's true but it makes sense).

Also I second the idea of trying different meds, I tried a couple to find the right one for me with my second (with my first I thought it was normal and persevered somehow, I ended up in hospital though so decided not to do that again!). My main symptom was crippling nausea, I was sick but not often, however the nausea was so bad I couldn't swallow but the meds really did help - lots of people find they don't stop the nausea, and they didn't for me either but they allowed me to take fluids and the odd bit of food which prevented a hospital stay - so I'd say it's well worth trying different ones till you find something that worked.

I hope it passes soon, it really is miserable xx

Second pregnancy and like PP I too struggled all the way through my first with loads of unhelpful professionals telling me it would ease. It only stopped once I had given birth.

This time I decided I can’t struggle with work, a toddler and nausea/sickness.
I started cyclizine and I have to say it’s taken me about 7-10 days to see the effects. I was still despairing a couple of days after starting that the nausea was still really bad and I would much rather have just vomited. But it has finally started to settle the past two days. Still have some nausea and I have my routine morning vomit like clockwork 20 mins after waking up.
If you really feel the cyclizine isn’t working go back to your GP, they may be able to combine different ones etc.
But please don’t just struggle on! I was miserable for my first pregnancy and wished every week away!

My nausea started 6 weeks on the dot and it was just awful, I sympathise with you so much. I was lucky in that Cyclizine did help me however even with that every day was a struggle and like yourself I couldn't even bare to think how I would get through the next 8 months.

If your nausea is worst in the morning I'd recommend taking a cyclizine dose overnight, it definitely helped me not feel like quite such a complete and utter wreck the next morning.
I briefly went on prochlorperazine to "top up" the cyclzine. Didn't make any difference for me but it is worth a try.

Anyway, i hope the following makes you feel better- my nausea got a bit better at 10 weeks to extent that I only took cyclizine when I needed, much better by 12 weeks (poor appetite in evening and occasional vomiting but no all day relentless nausea), better still by 16 weeks and LOTS better by 20 weeks.

I spent second and most of third trimester in total bliss eating whatever I wanted and was only sick once resulting from a boat ride!! Currently 40+1. You will get through this.
