Does anyone have any recommendations for a steriliser please? There seems to be so many different kinds and I'm a little lost as to what's best! Have seen the UV ones are more expensive but are they worth it?

Any recommendations and advice greatly received Smile

I don't have anything to compare it to but we have. Tommee Tippee electric steriliser as it was a hand me down and have no complaints about it. Pretty quick and easy to use. It's been through two kids and about to go through a third fingers crossed!

A tub with a lid and Milton tablets/liquid.
Easy as pie and the water stays sterile for 24 hours.

@FelicityPike how long do the bottles stay sterile once out the water?

We had a dr browns steam steriliser with DD1 last year but it started to go brown where the heating element was so have opted for a microwaveable one this time.. I was going to do cold water sterilising but my OH has terrible dermatitis on his hands and I couldn’t quite get my head around when to take them out and if you can use them straight away if they have any solution on them? I don’t get it.. that’s down to me and being a bit stupid though as lots of people take that route. Never tried UV sorry xx

You need to use them straight away but you can keep them in the water for 24 hours before changing the water.

I had the Milton cold water steriliser which is great and so easy but I didn't like the smell and the way that it discoloured the teats/soothers.

I have since bought a dr browns microwave steriliser as we use the dr browns bottles and its great, I imagine all the microwave ones would be the same. We kept the cold water one too for emergency bits and pieces.

I've only ever used Milton cold water steriliser for my two and will use it for this baby as well. I live in an extremely hard water area and people I know with electric sterilisers have had issues with them due to this. I probably would've gone for a microwave one though if I had a microwave

Thanks everyone, I'll definitely check out the microwave sterilisers as I hadn't considered them before! Smile
