Hey I’ve just found out I’m pregnant again(early days) but a complete shock and surprise

I was hoping for some advice I have had 3 previous csections due to complications in my first labour and I’m really worried about having a 4th my last one was in 2018 all my previous csections have gone very well but during my 3rd the surgeon mentioned something was paper tissue. But I didn’t take note as to what was like paper tissue I was to busy falling in love with my third baby.

I’m really worried I may be told to terminate this pregnancy as I’m quite high risk.
Has anyone experienced this?
Or what were your experiences during a 4th csection I’m only around 6 weeks along and I’m already getting pain in my scar area

You need to see an obstetrician to review your notes urgently. They will have written in them what they found at your previous section and therefore will be able to advise you on the level of risk. This may only be early days of the pregnancy but I have seen uterine rupture happen and it can be life threatening so please talk to your GP urgently about an urgent referral.

They don’t do 4 sections, I was always told by consultant they will ever only do max 3 sections. But obviously there are cases like yours and they can’t predict it so I’m very curious let us know!

Hi @Mumofgirlsx3, I have just today had my fourth baby by 4th c section!

Everything went perfectly!

During my third c section they had a tough time cutting through the scar tissue and the procedure took a little longer than the previous 2 sections.

This time around I was obviously consultant led again and it was already agreed that there would be more staff on hand in theatre to assist if things were tricky again.

As it happened things went amazingly well. From having my spinal to them lifting baby out was 30 minutes.

Baby is perfect, I’m doing great. I’m in no more pain than with any of my other sections. Totally bearable and well managed.

I will be going home tomorrow which will be just over 24 hours from the surgery!

You absolutely can have 4 c sections safely. The registrar today in theatre was telling us how the most he has personally performed on one woman was 7 and that went well too!

Good luck x

Did you have a pretty straight forward pregnancy or any pain In your previous wound?

Congratulations I’m so pleased it can be done and it’s gone so well for you xx

My older friend has had four c sections. Now this was a long time ago, back in the 90s, but all are healthy. Maybe it's changed now, but it certainly used to be done.

Elouera · 04/09/2021 00:55

They used to do the 4th scar down the pelvic area- not across. (below belly button and down) but I don't know if that is still done.

I'd certainly try getting your previous records, even if you need to request them from the hospitals records department and pay a fee. I'm sure other women have had a 4 pregnancy after C section.

Not true at all, I'm about to have my 5th! No issues. I'm sure it will be fine OP everyone heals differently and a lot of factors make different complications. How long has it been since your previous section?
Moominmiss · 04/09/2021 01:55

@Mumofgirlsx3 I’d had a really straightforward pregnancy throughout.

No issues with my scar or pain etc.

My new scar is exactly where my old one was and actually looks really neat!

This is obviously not true as if you need one, you need one. If you show up pregnant they can't turn you away. And if you have previously had 3 cs, another one is going to be the safest way to deliver baby. I haven't heard of a vba3c.

Sorry I know this is an old thread but I just wondered how things turned out for you in the end? In a similar situation myself and unsure re my options / risks after consultant advised no more pregnancies would be recommended. Thank you.

patsy999 · 25/04/2023 12:43

I had a 4th c section, but they said my uterus was see through and were amazed it hadn't ruptured.
It was done at 36 weeks as well.

Notmeagain24 · 10/12/2025 20:31

@Mumofgirlsx3 @MrsGmumof3 how did you get on? I'm finding myself in the same position, including the scar pain. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and my youngest is only 18 months xx
