Question about fetal movements

Currently 22 weeks pregnant, noticed some flutters at about 18 weeks which are now kicks too which I can sometimes see :)

It’s lovely and magical, however as I suffer with anxiety I knew this stage would be a bit nerving for me.

Mainly as I see and hear “go to hospital if you notice any reduction in movements at all” which is true and for everyone’s safety!

But for me, I’m unsure what constitutes reduced for me to visit hospital?

For example, I feel like my baby has moved less last night and this morning. I’ve felt some kicks but I feel it’s less - do I go and get checked?

I have felt some but not loads. I know they say wait until 24 weeks to establish babies moving pattern I’m just quite an anxious person.

Is it normal for movements to be quite sporadic? I’ve felt a day or two where I felt baby has been very active and like today I felt baby hasn’t.

If you are worried, just ring the midwife or hospital - they won't mind.

The hospital are not likely to see you for reduced movement before 24wk, you can call them for reassurance though.

When they are at this stage they can still get in to positions where you will feel little to nothing. You can try cold drinks, baths etc to encourage baby to move.

Thank you! I do know the hospital are on the other end of the phone to reassure me, however as I’m quite anxious I don’t want to bother them frequently!

So trying to get into the mindset of reassuring myself now

I have just lay down flat (I feel baby move most when I’m like this) for 10 minutes and felt some movements and kicks which has reassured me

Also spoke to my partner who’s been amazing to keep me calm.

But I guess if I ever do get really worked up to just ring the hospital! There here for me and my baby

Thanks everyone

I have been reading up about this a lot recently! There is a lot of conflicting info on dates and what to expect. I didn't feel anything much until I was just 23 weeks, then a few more flutters, three days of obvious movement then I've just had three days of no movement felt at all.

I ended up phoning at (24+3)after two days of no movement felt and the midwife said they wouldn't expect daily movement until 25/26 weeks and a pattern until 28 weeks, and because I felt it initially quite late and have an anterior placenta it wasn't a surprise. She did stress if I was worried to go in though to put my mind at rest.

After waking at 1am last night after 3 days I decided I would go in today (the hospital is over an hour away) but then of course at 2am I felt some kicks. They are in a totally different place to before and feel quite different in sensation so the baby must have moved.

So not sure if any of that waffle helps, but the message I got was that it's still a bit early but no harm in ringing and they'll get you in if you're worried.
