Mixing vaccines in pregnancy

I have been told by my consultant that I can have a Pfizer vaccine after having a previous Astrazeneca if I want to, after I raised concerns and now I'm even more confused what to do. I'm such a worrier!

I would go for it. Although clinical trials on mixing vaccines are ongoing, the data so far is showing that mixing vaccines gives you greater protection against covid. I was vaccinated with AZ while pregnant but if I’d had the opportunity to have Pfizer as my second dose, I would have taken it for this reason.

Having said this, there would also be no problem having the second AZ dose - if you didn’t develop a blood clot with the first dose (which is obviously incredibly rare), then you won’t develop it with your second dose. So it’s really up to you. Either way you’ll get good protection against covid and your baby will benefit from antibodies Smile

You are not recognised as being double vaxxed if you have two different vaccines: travel will be more cumbersome until you have one of the same later on.
